I'm not an avid poetry writer, in fact this is the third poem I've written so far. However, I like this one. I let my mind run free and it depicts many girls, their insecurities and their wall/shadow they hide behind.
The girl behind the shadow is not your average girl,
her shadow is not only a cover, but her power.
Her mystery keeps you enticed, on edge.
and with that, you make a pledge,
not to underestimate her power.
Her shadow could merely be a cover,
but you would never know better.
Her shadow could be malevolent,
but it is never prevalent.
Her beauty, hidden by this black matter,
corrupt and broken, you watch her shatter.
She is never your first thought, but your second,
but you never look at your own reflection,
your sins, your flaws, your discretion.
Her faultful actions are all that captures your attention,
but you always forget to mention,
your own actions.
You always forget to question,
why she's hidden, away from you and others.
Her shadow wasn't formed over night,
her future never has looked bright.
She's fought through battles alone,
fighting without moan.
Her shadow is not just a cover,
