Okay, so I'm a bit like chicken little...the sky is NOT falling...

but lately it seems more and more buildings in NYC are. I've heard talk of it being because we are on a fault and that scientists are worried that it's shifting and we're in for an earthquake.

What do you guys think? You think us NYCers should be worried? Is this just some crap talk?

I know that the Buffalo area is on a faultline - it could be that it stretches all the way down to NYC, too...

My knob tastes funny.

I remember about 10 years ago, we had a "mild" (in the LA sense) earthquake in NYC. All it really did was shake everyone around, but didn't cause any real damage.

I think the stuff falling off the buildings is more lack of adequate maintenance than any earthquake possibilities. I was in Newark the other day, and some of the roof there crumbled off onto the sidewalk. The building looks like it hasn't been occupied in at least 5 years. I would say that it's easily been that long since some of the buildings in NYC have seen anyone anywhere in the vicinity of their rooftops.

On an long enough timeline, everyone's survival rate drops to zero.
