Usain Bolt has saved athletics in explosive fashion after beating drugs cheat Justin Gatlin to become the 100m world champion.
The Jamaican sprinter stumbled to victory in his semi-final but was at his emphatic best to retain his title at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
There was only 0.01 seconds between the pair as Bolt ran a season best 9.79s to seal victory.
The athletics world was in rapturous celebration as Bolt denied pantomime villain Gatlin a gold medal.
