Sweet. I'm just about to convert my primary PC from Win98SE to 2000 Pro.
This will definitely help.

[edit] Whoops, it says "THIS IS GEARED TO A STANDALONE SYSTEM, NOT ON A LAN".
Who uses Win2k and doesn't have it networked?!?

Actually, the article goes on to talk about what to do if you are networked. I had the same feeling as you, to tell you the truth.

ME

My home machine has been running Win2K for about 6 months, plays all my games fine and has not crashed once yet.
Why would you have it networked, it works just as well as millenium (if not better) on a standalone machine.

Because just about every aspect of the NT kernel has been optimized for network performance. The NT OS has always been designed to function as part of a networked computer system. In all seriousness, if there's no intent to network a Win2k system, you might was well use ME.
