What do you all think of the delay in McVeigh execution?

i think this is a karma-type thing to spite all those morons that are taking this as an opportunity to do some publicity stunt and/or make money, i.e. airing it on tv/pay per view/internet. it's all just lame to me. i really don't think executions should be viewed by, if anyone, someone close to the victim. although in this case, this is still a very large number of people.

Wow, PIT, that's not at all what I expected from you...but I do agree

What exactly did you expect?

I didn't expect you to want to let him go...

But wanting to see him fry instead of spending life in prison is a very conservative viewpoint.

Just don't let KNS catch us at this...

Ah, I caught you a long time ago. I just keep quiet every so often, reclining in my chair with my arms folded, nodding with a smirk on my face saying "I told you so".

Seems to me this should all be a moot point.

He says he did it. He says he's not sorry. He waived his right to all appeals and wanted an execution.

Now he's reviewing his options?

WTF?

normally i'd say toast him, but the fact that he said "gosh, i don't like jail, it's no fun. please kill me." makes me think that we should let him rot in jail. it's not a luxury or a choice, it's a punishment. he shouldn't get what he wants at this stage.

I don't think there is any need for the death penalty. In fact it makes our country look bad to the rest of the world. But if we do have it, it should certainly be televised. Making a public spectacle of the killing is the whole point of capital punishment. In the past it was done right in the town squares. Plus, by witnessing the death we are better able to decide in the future if we still think that capital punishment is the way to go.

I still maintain that having conservative views on a few random issues does NOT make me an overall conservative.

McVeigh was executed earlier this morning. Something tells me he won't be resting in peace.

This entire event [the execution] was overrated, overhyped, and overplayed.

Yep. And as much as I thought it wouldn't bother me to have him be executed, the news made me feel nauseous for several hours.

BRiT, the reason behind the overreaction was and is that McVeigh not only committed one of the most hateful crimes in history, but also left his mark as being one of the minimal few who has at this point followed through with their sentence of death by execution. The death penalty in today’s society is nothing more than an empty threat, therefor is “new” and fresh for any and every credible news program.

Hermie, how so?

Well...they shouldn't have hyped it, so much, but I do think the following:

1) He deserved to fry.
2) His death should be public.
3) The way he died was far too leniant considering what he did to so many people.

If this had been the 16th century, Timothy McVeigh would receive nothing less than being drawn and quartered with his arms and legs placed at each corner of the nation to show that such horrible acts will not be tolerated.

I actually disagree. While what he did to all those people was awfull, I just dont feel that it is nessasary to Kill him in some outlandsh way. I mean death is death, why should one, no matter how evil they may be, be killed in an cruel way.

My mind races back to one of the final scenes in Braveheart . . . Im glad that was in the past and not the present, barbaric if you ask me.

Anyway nuff said about that . . . the **** is dead.
