its big on the news here in Atlanta..............the TSA has announced new pat down procedures if you decline the 'body scan' they do a somewhat invasive pat down........some people are going to try to boycott both...........What do you think?

I think you know if you go to the airport you are going to be body scanned or patted down I think you should pick one and get on with it no one should get threw without doing one or the other

I agree! Pick one and move on....it's for the safety of everyone.

We were in St Louis airport and LAX this weekend. STL had the body scanners but we were not required to use either. LAX didn't have the scanners.

I don't care........but if the person doing the pat down is hawt, I hope they don't mind if I position myself accordingly. :)

I think it's a price that we have to pay to be safe. People are never happy-they **** about safety then **** when the government puts safety measures in place.

I was body scanned three weeks ago when going on vacation. I have no problems with it. I would rather be body scanned than patted down but would allow either in order for safety. The body scanning was simple and easy. I can't understand why there is such a fuss with the body scanning. I have nothing to hide and the process did not slow down my time to departure at all.

I hope those folks have an alternate transportation plan because I'm thinking they won't be flying to their destination.

Don't agree with it!! We don't fly often, but will definitely avoid it now.
#1) I will NEVER be comfortable with my (young) children's bodies shown basically naked to strangers OR their being patted down. I don't care how carefully these faceless employees were hired or how great their background checks look.

#2) I am concerned about unnecessary radiation exposure, especially in children.
#3) I am shocked that a person who has second thoughts about the security procedures is not allowed to back out, without severe legal/financial penalties. "Once you enter and start the process you have to complete it?" $11k fines? Incredible!

Flying is not a requirement. You are free to travel by bus, train, boat, or car.

If you wish to fly, those are the rules. It is for MY safety and yours. If you don't wish to abide by the rules, then find an alternate means of transportation.

Not being able to back out of it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I thought children under 12 do not need to go through the scanner---at least that is what I heard on the news this morning.

I personally am not keen on doing the scan but will for the safety of our country. And I would rather have the scan than someone patting me down.

The pat down includes a groin/crotch "pat" that is being contested. I can only imagine that something like that would make me feel violated. And what do you do when you get a creepy looking person who becomes a "groaper". And then, how do we teach our children that they should NEVER let anyone touch their privates? Not doing it!

don't know for sure, but there was something all over the news about a 3 year old screaming "don't touch me" and fighting against the pat down.

Life treats me just fine without the need for using an airplane.

I'm content with keeping my daily dose of GCR to the typical 6 or so. Being on an airplane for just a couple hours doubles one's daily dose of GCR. I'm fine with the car, the bus, or the train, and very content with avoiding cancer.

Succumbing to the backscatter machine does nothing but add at least 2 comparable minutes of additional GCR exposure in the name of a false sense of safety.

If I absolutely had to fly, I'd avoid the machine's cancer enabling abilities, and let the ****wits fondle Skippy and the Sack, being sure I avoided cleaning myself for the previous couple days. Gloves may protect the hands, but they do nothing to prevent the odor.
