What genre of gaming is your #1 and which games do you love for your #1 genre?

Well, its a tie for me:

RPGs are cool, but you got a little mixed up there my friend...

Shenmue is an Action/Adventure. Some people call it the "FREE" the genre...

Mario was always a Platformer no matter what game you are talking about.

They are both great games, but not RPGs. If you think about it every game is a role playing game so thats why there is different genres.

The rest are all good old RPGs!

Yeah, I can see why Shenmue isn't an RPG, but I still consider Mario RPG an RPG... I mean, it has a turn based battle system, your characters level up... all of the RPG elements are there. Also... "RPG" is in the title!!! ;)

BTW.. Perfect Dark and Goldeneye = Best N64 games ever!!! :D

Well, lets call it a mix of RPG and Platformer.....

BTW.. Your **** right about Perfect Dark and GoldenEye!!!!
 
First Person Shooter:

Half Life/Counter Strike (PC) - I have had these games on my Hard Drive for so long, and they arn't going anywhere untill Half Life 2 comes out.

Duke Nukem 3D :p (PC) - This bad boy got me into FPS's

RPG:

Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic (PC)

MMORPG:

Ultima Online (PC) - I racked up well over 400 hours playing this game, me and Matt always traveld around together and double team'd enemies, it was some of the best gaming I have ever had.

I don't think it would have reached 400 hours (16+ full days) and definetely not "well over", but it might have come close.
 
we played for like 10 hours a day for like 25 days when we had the free month.

Then we played for approx 200 hours in EndEffect and a few hours in a couple of other shards.
 
Ultima freakin Ownz . . .

Er ,

FPS
Battlefield 1942 (PC) - Never since goldeneye had I loved the FPS genre so much .
Jedi Academy - Great fun (mainly 3rd person though) multiplayer rocks.
Goldeneye- ' nuff said .
Perfect dark - it was goldeneye , on fire , being chased by ninjas and the ninjas are on fire !! awesome fun with mates too .
Cokers BFD - More of a 3rd person (as with jedi academy) but the multiplayer and single player alike where unquestionablegenious .
Counter-strike - ...showed me how awesome online play could be .

Adventure RPG's
The legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time - in my opinion , the greatest game Ever .
The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the past - up there with the Gods .
The Legend of Zelda - Wind Waker - Awesome fun , my fave Gamecube game so far , no-where near as revolutionary as Ocarina though .
Ultima Online - Dangerously adictive . ATM I'm staying well away from it because of Exams and crap though .
