Which of the following do you think you would find more useful if you were/are a starting webdesigner ..

  • Nice looking HTML templates that are free for you to download, complete with all graphics and stuff with fully commented code.
  • A good(!!) set of tutorials covering HTML and Graphics creation so you could set about designing your own sites.
  • Low priced personal 1 on 1 lessons in HTML and Graphics design.

The reason I am asking is none other that pure curiosity, I amn't perticurlarly interested in creating a site featuring all or any of the above, but if there was a big enough demand I might consider it ..

Anyways, which would you personally find most useful?

A good set of tutorials covering HTML and Graphics creation so you could set about designing your own sites.

i think you need to have a firm understanding of the language before you can really use templates or wysiwyg webpage programs. also, html and graphics are two COMPLETELY different topics. for graphics i would probably suggest taking some classes. or, go to your local college bookstore and see what books they use. i suggest looking at a community college if available. the books used at comminity college go all the way back to the basics, so as long as you dont get too ****y ( :D ) then you will have no problem learning the skills.

Well personally here in a couple of days I'm going to be uploading some HTML and graphic tutorials onto spyder designs...

Then I'm going to put up some template layouts that people can download and things :)

Thanks for your input, btw .. personally I always consider HTML and Graphics as going hand in hand ..

Spyder, I missed your reply .. **** you. Why not put the tutorials somewhere else, because running a business that has information your potential clients need to run a similar business on it is a bit odd, for example ..

If Microsoft sold a copy of Windows alongside a free copy of the Windows source code how many people do you think would buy Windows? :)

Its your call though dude .. :)

Everyone has to start somewhere, so I'd try to help out the same way people progress through the topic at hand -- fresh beginer, educated novice, experienced, ..., professional. So the set of helpful tutorials would be of more immediate use for most people. And then after some time the templates would be useful.

Thanks for all the input guys .. I will be writing some detailed PHP and mySQL tutorials soon aswell if anyone's interested .. :)

I like the well commented code that I can read and understand. A lot like what you did for me a couple weeks ago. That always helps. Either that or a tutorial. The only problem with a tutorial is that it is very limited, and often I dont quite understand what they are saying. This is why htmlgoodies isnt quite to my taste.

Well personally I don't feel that showing a person how to code a table, form, add an image, or a hyperlink is a threat to a webdesign company.

This is also how I feel about graphics tutorials.

I feel that it is nice not to have to be charged for every peice of information that you want out of life :)

Now for the layout. Well that is basically a tutorial. You get to see how the graphics and things are laid out. Now I'm not sure about doing this but I don't think it would be a bad idea. :)

If your running a personal website chances are your not going to hire a web designer anyways. But you may go to a webdesign website looking for tutorials on how to do things, such as a simple html table. This in turn you tell your friends..who know friends..who know friends that might be interested in your company making a website for them :)
