whoa.. the anti drug war just got a huge donation :)

I have a quick question. If the law enforcement agencies snag a huge load of drugs worth a billion dollars, how is it turned into money for the department...do they sell the stuff? I can see confiscated money as being used for support but the drugs.

No disrespect towards WaterB, just something that's been on my mind when I read these kind of articles.

If the government apprehends and confiscates raw drugs, regardless of their worth, they are destroyed and no cash goes to anybody. If however, they discover drug money, that money is in fact confiscated and becomes government property.

hmm ... i can't help but wonder though if this is what really happens in all cases. all the money and drugs have got to be tempting.

so, when drug money is confiscated by the government - where does it go? drug treatment programs, etc.? probably not. it'd be interesting to know where it all goes. ks, you're so smart. i love reading your posts

I'm schmart?! Thanks Spiderg! If a) I as a little "grunt" could raise your karma, and b) you had karma to raise, I surely would!

About the drug money sounding suspiciously tempting, I think the reason I'm a political theorist is because I love our government in theory...as for practice, well that's quite another story

But I have heard that much (i'm too unsure to say all) of the drug money does go towards anti-drug funding activities and efforts. On a completely different subject, I bet I'm way too new to be a household name -- at the least, maybe I might be "redlips"
