Why Linux not used much

I may be wrong with this statement, but from my experience and little survey i came to know many opt for Windows, few Mac. Very few linux, why is it so.

My thought is dealing with installing apps working with the environment makes the users little uncomfortable compared to windows.

Because of the fact that Linux's not that widespread or known in the market... so people mistrust it. And find it risky & etc.

Having used Linux extensively for many years at work, I feel it is the switchover which prevents people from using it. Once you are in, you experience the power and ease of its working.

Oh cool, i have installed Ubuntu 12.04 along with win 7. Hope the experience makes me shift completely to Linux.

Maybe Linux is not so popular and secure than the versions from Microsoft.

Secure, i can agree with you to some extend..but compared to Microsoft, Linux is far more secure.

Idea's for Promoting Forum.

I want to hear all you ideas on how to Promote the forum. Its contests, getting active members. We can make the forum succeed it is getting through the initial hurdle of being new that makes it difficult. I been promoting the Contest Via facebook and sharing them on my page.
I would like other ideas.
