ok.. this is something i've never seen before. The computer boots ok for the first 10-15 seconds but then the video display cuts off and i can't tell if it finishes the boot sequence ok or crashes.. This happens even if i enter the bios menu.. if i let it sit for 10-15 seconds in bios it'll do the same thing.. I'm thinking the motherboard's screwed..

anyways.. now i'm looking for a SlotA board to replace this one.. **** KA7's are still $109..

I hate to bring up this point, but if you're already replacing the motherboard, why screw yourself by going with SlotA?

It's already been mostly phased out, and the SocketA CPUs are so much cheaper that in the long run, it'll be cheaper to just replace the CPU.

Heck, you can get an Athlon XP 1600+ for around $125 now.

Is it worth it just to save yourself from having to buy a new CPU to be stuck with a format that already has one foot in the grave?

i have a slotA 850Tbird in the mobo that died.. i really don't want to have it just sit around doing nothing. I'd rather get another slotA mobo now.. and maybe sell the entire system a few more months down the road.

got a ECS 7S5A and a 1.2Ghz Tbird.. i love the mobo.. it's more stable than that **** KA7 i was using.. i'm still using PC133 ram.. but i have the option to switch to ddr at a later date w/o switching motherboards since the board has 2 slots of each kind of ram (SD and DDR)
