People often think I make this word up, too...

smarmy (SMAR-mee) adjective

1. Hypocritically, complacently, or effusively earnest; unctuous.
2. Sleek.

[From smarm, to smear.]

"But `weasel' lives on as a synonym for that subspecies of Hollywood gentry, the entertainment industry executive, conjuring up a whole host of smarmy tassel-shoe traits."

Richard Conniff, You can call him `cute' or you can call him `hungry', Smithsonian, Feb 1997.

My knob tastes funny.

thats a fantastic word! another one to use in every day conversation so that people will think im intelligent! thanx!

As long as they think you're intelligent, and not smarmy. If you're too smarmy for too long, one might become a smarm-****. That's no fun, although it's fun inventing a word like that. As far as I know, there's only 2 smarm-asses in existence: myself (ask KNS about that one) and Ralph Nader (ask her about that one too).

smarm-**** (SMARM-****) adjective

1. Poss
2. Ralph Nader

[from smarmy (unctuous), and **** (****)]

"Sorry I sounded so weird last night, I apologize for being such a smarm-****."

"No man can be condemed for owning a dog.
As long as he has a dog, he has a friend;
and the poorer he gets, the better friend he has."

- Will Rogers

Loyalty and love are the best things of all, and surely the most lasting. -- My Dog Skip
