This may seem like a strange way to start one of these but here's my story.

A dear friend of mine, a previous co-worker, passed away last week and I atended her memorial this afternoon.

When we first became friends she used to tell me that she was old enough to be my mother. I would tell her that she wasn't because though they were both born the same year my mother is 16 days older.

Back when the Illinois Lottery started "The Big Game" (now known as Mega Millions) we started a pool $5 a week to play. There were 5 of us and shortly after one moved away so we kept it to just 4 in the pool. My friend retired about 7 or 8 years ago but every couple of months she would mail me her share to stay in the pool. We will be ending that pool on 1-1-11.

Anyway, since I left the memorial many "lucky" things have happened to me (actually on the couponing side of things).

First, I stopped at Wags. The order included 2 rolls of the wrapping paper and was over $25 before coupons. I knew that I wasn't going to be getting the Jingle Cash but I needed the items. I prepared my coupons and JC and left everything else out in my truck. While walking thru the store I saw a stuffed animal that would make an excellent present ($9.99). I go back out to my truck and get $10 more JC. I gather my items and go to checkout and the man in front of me pays for his order (over $50 and leaves. Out pops the $10 Super Jingle Cash. I finish my order and the cahier hands it to me.
I then stopped at Jewel and there was a display of Bailey's. I spotted 1 lone coffee tag just waiting for me. As I circled around somebody had beaten me to it. Then I spotted on the edge of the display a stack of the coffee tags, I ended up with 5.
So now I need to stop for gas at the Speedway. I fill up my tank and while walking up to pay, I spot a gift card on the ground. I picked it up and had them check the ballance on it, it was just over $15. I used that to pay for part of my bill. After I paid out pops a winner from their Speedy Rewards program, I won a $50 GC.

So I feel my friend is looking out for me.

Thank you for reading my story.

Now for the fun part.

In remembrance of my friend, just post a comment. I'm going to tie this in with the Illinois Lottery and the winning post will be the last 2 numbers from tonights Pick 3 drawing at 9:20ish (if the last 2 numbers are 47 then post 47 wins if the last 2 numbers are 00 then post 100 wins). Hopefully we can have 100 posts by then.

The prize 1 complete $25 Coors/Gift card rebate. You get the form, the receipt for the $100 gc purchase, the receipt for the beer purchase, the UPC label, and a stamped addressed envelope. You just need to fill out the form and mail it in.

It would have been more fitting if she drank Coors but she was a mixed drink drinker .

I share this with you, my newer friends, in remembrance of an old friend. Her initials CW.

ETA: I will subtract 50 from the number drawn if it is higher than the last post
