Can someone give me some advice?
I have a ABIT BE6-II motherboard with 128mb ECC ram.
I am trying to add another 128mb ECC to it but I always fail the memory test. Do I need to change and switches or values in the bios.
Are both of the sticks of ECC identical?
Are they the same brand, same speed, same CAS rating?
If not, it's a common problem.
Since you don't know why you need ECC, then you really don't need it. Unless you're running a mission-critical server that needs 100% data integrity and 0% downtime, you don't need ECC and it's a waste of money.
Another downside is the compatibility issue you're dealing with right now.
If you have the opportunity to return it and exchange it for some non-ECC RAM, do so.
