Don't get me wrong I know there is children having sex at 13, but the fact some one has pointed out they want to lower the age of consent to 13 is just wrong.
It promotes more children having sex, and the reason for all of this is just wrong. To the end the persecution of old men!

What are your thoughts?

I read about this yesterday and forgot to post about it; thank you!

Personally I think it's disgusting, but I'm sure there's many out there who will agree with it. Making this change wouldn't bring any benefit to society.

I think 16/17 is the baseline limit. Any lower is way too young. I wasn't in the frame of mind to make that decision at 13. No, no no no no. It's just wrong.

Is that article pretty much saying that it should be lowered so that old men can touch young girls? Or did I read that wrong?

This is disgusting and repulsive. I live in America and that is greatly frowned upon here. I think it should be 16/17 as well, that is how it is in some states here. But mostly it is 18.

No, nonono!
I think it would be disastrous to lower the age of consent.
For one, it would probably make grooming and other things more common. More old men would probably take advantage of young girls and that's never okay.

Christ no. I wasn't mature enough to make that kind of decision at thirteen. Most thirteen year-olds I know are still pretty physically undeveloped to boot.

Pfft, I find it disgusting and very wrong. Heck, I'm thirteen and I know that. It's not right, and honestly too young. A majority of my school consists of non-virgins, and I've hear of children even younger having sex. Personally, No one is mature enough to even consider sex at this age. I'm strongly against it. People should wait until they're at least considered an adult [eighteen and up?]. Plus plus plus. if it's lowered, then old men would... but. Ugh ew. I don't see a purpose of... No.

I don't see any positive things that can arise from this change; I assume there will only be more teen pregnancies and other, "safety mistakes" with sex. I just don't see a reasonable objective in this to be quite honest.

Many of you know I'm a stickler for gender/sex equality, so I just want to point out that it's more of having adults having sex with kids. Sure, there are plenty of pervy old men out there, but I've seen similar reactions with older women. Either way, however, it's, "wrong" from my subjective viewpoint.

I believe that nothing different would happen if the age of consent is lowered. There are many countries around the world where the age of consent is 14, 12 or lower and the average age that kids become sexually active is still 16 or 17. It shows that culture has a greater impact on our behaviour than our laws. Quite what the benefits in doing so are I don't know but I wouldn't be outraged in the slightest if it was.

I don't understand why children so young desire to be sexually active. It's beyond me, and I definitely feel that they shouldn't lower the age of consent. I don't see how it really benefits anyone?

16 is low enough, 13 is discusting, if my daughter came home at 13 pregnant, i dont think the lad who did it would be coming near my house!!
