well, not really. i updated my norton antivirus stuff tonite and paid $14.95 for a year of updates. fine. so i click on the live update button and it downloads something to do w/updating scripting.

you know, so no one can write bad scripts, but it wouldn't let the pc script ANYTHING. EVEN GOOD SCRIPTS. dammit. i had to disable the whole thing temporarily.

i'm more of an idiot than words can describe and why did i download this ?? i didn't know; that's why. these downloads are supposed to help people, not totally screw up their computers.

now what? do you folks find my lack of computer knowledge entertaining? or no?

What scripts do you need to run?
Like MS, it appears that Norton is erring on the side of caution at the expense of usability, but 90% of home users never need to run scripts. Heck, I would consider myself a power user, and the closest I come is running some batch files.

my thoughts exactly. thank you. the only script i know about is the kind i learned in second grade

anywhoo, i just unchecked scriptblocking in msconfig.

is there any way i can go back into the registry somehow to before i downloaded all this crap? i can't even run my antivirus program now.

good idea, but i shut that off when i first bought the computer. i guess that wasn't a good idea.

i played around w/nav more and ended up "allowing the action" of "write to hard/floppy disk and program dos attributes." i can at least run the program now w/o any messages popping up.

If you have WinME, they have the System Restore feature which will allow you to do just what you're asking. Whether or not it will help the situation, I'm not sure.
