Oh I'm so glad it helps. When you feel tempted, please use us as a tool...............we will support and encourage you. :) And please know that if you slip up, we'll still be here to help you back up. :flowers: (but don't use that as an excuse lol)

I have NEVER smoked but never wanted to after seeing my Aunt suffer and die a horrible death from lung cancer when I was 8 yrs. old...she smoked even while on oxygen and it truly ruined her life...that being said...I am PROUD of you for trying to quit! You should be glad and just take one day at a time!

Just a bit more encouragement along that same line from me. I've lost too many family members due to smoking (lung cancer & emphysema). It's not an easy way to go. Trust me.

Congrats & keep up the good work! You'll be so glad you did and so will your family.

Just a little more food for thought.....

You Can Do It!!!

I saw many of the disease pics, the teeth pics ect and I was so **** stupid in believing 2 things :
1) I'll quit for good when ever I **** well please

and

2) It won't happen to me.

Well, I did quit. It was so not pretty. I was a raving lunatic at times. I asked my husband to go to the store to get milk or bread or .. some kind of staple. He had just gotten home from work. He asked why I couldn't go. I looked at him with the "stink eye" and told him I don't trust myself not to go buy cigarettes again. He asked me the BEST question... so, you will be forever housebound?!?! I went and got the milk or bread or whatever and did not talk to him the rest of the night. Pissed me off, though I now realize he was right. Not tellin him that though :secret:

As for the diseases... well, so far, I have no diseases. I feel very lucky and blessed as I was not nice to my body from 12 years old until 35.... between smoking 2 packs or so a day. Along working 15 years in a bar/restaraunt with 2nd hand smoke. My children do not have any breathing problems either. Yes, I smoked while pregnant. I truly feel lucky.

I hope you have remained off the cigarettes.

Are we on day 5? I think that's amazing! Pat yourself on the back.

You have reached the point where your body is cleansed of the nicotine. Although there are still some addictive substances added to the cigarettes that will keep you physically craving for a couple more days.

YES.....this is day 5!!! By far one of the longest times I have gone in trying to quit other times. I can breathe so much easier already. I have been going for walks every night to try to keep my mind off things and keep me out of the kitchen. I have been trying to not eat in place of smoking. I have gained almost two pounds since Sunday morning when I quit. It is very frustrating. All and all things are going well and I am so excited to be on day five without a single puff!

That's great! It's a great idea to turn your focus on exercise......great job! :hiphip: Imagine how good you'll feel in a year?

My last cig was 9/13/2005. I smoked for 9 years and before several unsuccessful attempts, I finally found a way to quit forever! Anyway, I bought nicorette lozenges (sp?) to help me with my cravings. About 3 days after I quit, we had a girls night and lots of drinking! Anyway, I did not smoke, but I kept popping in the lozenges, one after another. The next day, I felt sooooooo sick! The thought of nicotine, cigarettes, or nicorette made me sick to my stomach!

Moral of the story: While I don't recommending overdosing on nicotine, it worked for me...I never ate another piece of gum or had a cig! Good luck to you, it is very hard, but it is well worth it in the end :)
