Any suggestion for free antivirus, firewall?

The Norton that came with my new laptop is about to expire. I am not tech savvy at all. Any suggestion what antivirus, firewall or pop-up?

My hubby is a tech guy and he puts AVG (the free version) on our computers and everyone else's that he fixes. We have never had any trouble with it at all.

MY B-In law works in IT and says it is one of the best ones out there!

My cousin's a techie, and he says AVG and Avast are both good, although AVG is more user friendly.

Same here, free versions of AVG and Malwarebytes do a good job!

go to the cnet freeware download site and read the reviews for the top rated anti-virus programs. I use the free version of Avira because people were saying it's better than the free AVG at the time. I've been using it for months and so far it's been hassle free...

Since I was need of new anti-virus (I've gotten tired of the trial McAfee pop-ups) I figured I'd add the AVG free link. It took me a few minutes to find it.

We too have used AVG for years and also have Malwarebytes. If you go to download.com (cnet) you can see a list on the right hand side that has the top 10 and these are both always listed.
