No i know, nerd is not a bad thing - im just going by the experiences i have had when i was younger, around your age and further.
The change of the term "nerd" and its projection/views against others have changed a great deal over about 10-20 years now.
A nerd 20 years back is different to a nerd now into what people view you as and think of you.
To me, its just another word that has really no "real" meaning anymore.
