Tom, actually I believe Ask.Fm claimed she sent the messages herself but it hasn't been investigated properly yet. At least not before this week.

But yeah, no it shouldn't be shut down because of a stupid teenager.

Yeah agreed though, you hear these stories about these kind of things happening. This represents less that like 1% of users on the sites and then suddenly people call for the sites to be shut down. So because a small minority of people have had problems with the site the other 99% who have no problems on the site shouldn't be allowed to use it anymore? Doesn't make sense!

Though tbh I doubt she committed suicide over this, it was probably a series of events that she felt like she couldn't tell anyone, so she resulted into sending those messages as like a "cover-up" to the real reason why... or if she didn't send those messages maybe it was just the final straw which knocked her over the edge. Think its a bit mean to call her names when we will never know the 100% reason. Idk thought about it a bit more deeply since my last reply obvz

I'm not sure if anybody has made this point but the girl who committed suicide recently over this site had all of her questions tracked down to the IP addresses that they were sent from. It was found out that she had in fact sent 98% of these hateful messages to herself. Meanwhile only 4 messages were sent by other users.

Oh yeah, I read about that a few days ago. You can send yourself messages very easily. I told my mum and she said, "I think there's more to that girl than meets the eye", which I think is true. It is possible that she did it to herself to gain attention but giving herself so many negative questions played on her mind enough to make herself believe it. Maybe it was a different way of hating on herself, with the hope that someone will feel sorry for her and make friends with her. There are some people in this world who would do something like that. However, I read somewhere that she was getting abusive messages on Facebook too so maybe Ask.fm is lying, but if they are, that just makes them look really bad. I'm surprised her dad isn't wanting Facebook to be taken down too. A lot of abuse goes on on Facebook, possibly more than on ask.fm.
