But yeah, you aren't alone in getting pissed off at the "eternal victim" routine. Suck it up! That's what I say! Maybe I lack compassion, or perhaps, I just might be on to something...;)
 
I think women understand men a LOT better than they understand us. How do you think women (not US, of course, Nightwolf;) !) get away with the crap they do? I have to say I think Damm is definitely on to something!:rolleyes: Women want to be treated as equals but are still playing the damsel in distress card to the max. Being a woman, I have to say that I have EARNED my title as "She Who is Revered" (NO - that's NOT reserved for women over 90!:mad: ), and **** it, there are people out there from whom I demand reverence!! Where the HELL is my coffee??!!?? I have a feeling it's going to be a long day at work......:(
 
Lol true true, I hate and I'm sorry for saying this but i hate women who do infact act as a damsel just to get their own way when they are infact strong women who don't need to act like that :)

...and yes we know men alot better than they know us men aren't 'as' complex lmao

Men are much more physically oriented. Wemon rely more on maniupulation. Not really bashing that its just different. Wemon as a whole know PEOPLE better.:)
 
I think that the whole damsel in distress mindset is responsible for this kind of thing (not helped by the many chivalrous (how ever its spelt) men around who like to treat women as damsels in distress). its a relic of a past i'm not saying that i dont appreciate it (as a woman) once in a while but being treat like it will encourage said behaviour that causes this annoyance.
 
I personally believe that men a women are equals and yes they are different. However I think the modern woman sacrificed more than she knew when she abandond the "damsel in distress" mindset. I should not be completely lost. I personally always open doors and push in chairs for women. And honestly any women who is offended by a man trying to be chivalrous is not a woman I want to be dateing. I realize you can open your own doors and push in you own chairs but if someone else will do it for you why not? I do it as a form of respect, not as a "helping hand" to thoes less capable. The truth is men and women are different in exactly the right ways. We mesh together like cogs, our failings are your strengths and visa versa. It pointless to argue the differences and not realize the strengths, play off each others merits and you will go far. The best relationships are not between a man and woman they are between a couple, of one mind, supporting each other in every way possible.
 
I didn't view the "damsel in distress" in this thread as being the anti-chivilry trend among women. I think the holding doors and pulling out chairs is nice, and as you said, simply a sign of respect and perhaps affection.

The "damsel in distress" I was more the manipulative kind, the stunts that girls pull when they want to get their way. I think you have to choose, you are either a strong woman who can stand on her own two feet, or you are not...some girls I know go back and forth depending on how they think they can "play" a guy into giving them what they want. THAT's what pisses me off.

Opening doors only makes me smile and think "what a nice thing to do!"
 
I saw this forum just in time for ONE HELL OF A GOOD VENT!

At the risk of sounding sexist, just what the hell IS wrong with women?! This girl I used to be friends with decided to get in touch with me after cutting me off for years and was flirting with me non-stop. Everyone we were around thought we were a couple. She drove over 200 miles to come visit me at school. We hooked up (yea ok, I'll take responsibility for being a **** here and assuming that sleeping together should be considered something meaningful and intimate :angry7: ). After a couple days I finally worked myself up to ask her about it and see where this whole friendship thing was going, and she said "next time you come home we'll go out and see how it turns out." Supposedly a good reaction, right?
Normally, yes, but apparently she likes to be a **** and pretend these kinds of conversations never happened. So, when I called after being rejected from my 3 top choice grad schools (fairly upset, you can imagine), I thought I could at least ask about that date. Not only did she play dumb, but thought it was an appropriate time to tell me she was taking a 2 week vacation with this guy she's "somewhat involved with."
The best part is that after I stopped talking to her, she harassed me to continuously ask what my problem was. As if I'M the one with the defective head here. So, I told her off... what the hell else was I supposed to do? And what is ABSOLUTELY KILLING ME right now i that I did SUCH a great job telling her off until she had to sneak in that last word right before I hung up. I HATE when women have to have the last word like that. We may have actually talked again after this argument if she hadn't put that in: "Well, I can see your college education is really doing you wonders. Good bye." Good bye? No, you don't do that. That's not fair. I'M the one who's pissed off here and I'M the one who actually has a REASON to be. That was how my last 2 relationships ended also, with the girl sneaking in that last word and pissing me off to the point of no return.

huff...hufff................

Ok sorry for that long rant. I'm gonna go find my buddy and drag him to a bar now.
