Condoms....have never been on bc because of headaches/migraines. Docs say they could make them worse and I definitely don't need that!
I am looking to go on BC not to try and avoid pregnancy per say but to get control of my life back. I have never been on BC. I have been married for 22 years and I have 2 boys. Ages 4 and 2. So obviously I am not a "fertile Mertile". Since the birth of the last my child my period has DRAMATICALLY changed. It is getting in the way on my life. Honestly I can't go on like this..............ms:
I am looking at something like Lybrel. I was hoping to get every bodies experiences both good and bad. I have to make my decision by August 15th.
I would love another child but due to DH's and my age we just don't think it is possible. We are very lucky we have been blessed with 2 healthy boys. Our family is complete.
I am sorry about your experience with BC. I have been reading side effects and think "Wow does this really happen to people?" And you are proof it does.
Right now, nothing as we decided to start a family together....
Have done the patch before and liked it. Was super regular and after the first month of getting used to it almost no side effects. If soon to be hubby didn't promise snip snip after we were done I would definatly go back on this.
BC gave me terrible migraines. This was several years ago and I tried a couple different kinds. Since I already suffer from migraines, I was dealing with them 20 days out of the month when I was on BC so I vowed never again.
I am very, very regular so other than the short period I was on BC, we just use the rhythm method. We've had 2 kids in 10 years (and they were both planned) so I think we're doing pretty good with the method we've been using.
Have you ever readTaking Charge of Your Fertility?[/QUOTE]
excellent book
I am on the pill becouse I have a hormonal problem and my period wouldnt stop and if it did stop id sneeze a day later and it would stop I dont remember the name when I went to the doctor my hemogloben was 7 the obgyn said I almost bled to death becouse of my period. this went on for years
the first month I was on the pill I bled 27/28 days when I went back the nurse said 'well most people wait to be on the pill 2 months' when I went into the mans office I appoligized for comming back in a month he looked at my menstral diary and said 'ida been back in a month also' it was the first day of the 2nd pack on day 3 of the same pack I STOPPED BLEEDING hallujah ive been on the pill eleven months now and ONLY bleed during placebo week
Sounds like you definitely need some help. Have you been able to investigate WHY things have changed so much for you? I often think Drs are too quick to throw BC at "female issues" than to figure out their source. I don't know enough about your specific issues to have an answer but there are often other more holistic options with herbs and teas and even acupuncture. Raspberry Red Leaf tea is enjoyable and helps with some issues.
My worry with your explanation is that hormonal BC may bring you a whole world of new issues that you don't need. I generally believe that new symptoms are there for a reason and finding/solving that is better than "messing" with your body further if you have a choice.
I really hope you can find a solution. I'm sorry you've been having such a hard time. If you do need BC, I really hope you won't have any if the horrible side effects.![]()
I have been under the care of a Chiropractor friend for almost 4 months. I am taking a ton of supplements. And getting adjustments. It is not working for me. When I go back to the OBGYN and get BC she will be PISSED off at me.
2 weeks before my period I am a RAVING LUNATIC. 1 week before the insomnia kicks in. 3 days before spotting and EXTREME cramping kicks in. And finally bleeding non stop for 5 days. I am talking about pouring out. Then BAM it just stops. All done. Each month is getting worse. This month I also cried non stop. 3 out of 4 months I am basically incapacitated by my period.
My OBGYN suggests a partial hysterectomy. I am really not ready for that.

Who's "we"? The still married guy you just started seeing recently? Is your divorce finalized?
**** you move fast.

You are probably in peri-menopause. Ask them about ablation.
Ablation?? I googled and only found Novasure? Is it like Mirena?
I called our insurance to see what is and isn't covered.
I suspect peri- menopause also. I kind of feel to young for that :-(

If you want something that is non-permanent ask your doctor for a D&C, this is where they dialate your cervix and remove uterine lining buildup. Done correctly this does not affect fertility. This is basically the same process as an abortion, just done for medical reasons with no pregnancy. Before the rise of prescription methods of dealing with this stuff this was the standard method of (temporarily) alleviating heavy periods.
Does not stop your period, just removes built up tissue that could be causing problems.
On my personal mental severity "tree" it goes D&C , ablation , then talk of hysterectomy or partial H.
A place to debate everything and anything!
