Birth Control???

I used the Depo and was diagnoist with osto at the age of 30. It decreased my bone mass on my hips. I ended up having to go on old lady meds to regrow my bones. I have regained almost all of my bone loss after 3 years of meds. I have a iud and don't get my friend each month. its been almost 3 years.

Can I ask?? Which IUD? I was thinking of Mirena.

Ablation?? I googled and only found Novasure? Is it like Mirena?

I called our insurance to see what is and isn't covered.

I suspect peri- menopause also. I kind of feel to young for that :-(

My OB/GYN told me that if your period is hindering you from living your life - an ablation will be covered by insurance.
My insurance paid 100% of mine.

I am getting 4 day long migraines on the patch... but I need something for BC. No more kids wanted and we don't have insurance for DH to get the snip (although that's the route we'd like to go).

Anyone know if any BC methods beside the pill, patch, etc that are covered by "the pink card" (basically the medical card that deals with all "female" appointments etc).

Anyone who get migraines use Mirena?

I am getting horrible migraines each month on Ortho Evra and am wondering if anyone has had similar experience and can report on if they went away with Mirena?

Would love to hear any experiences with Mirena. Did your period stop? Love it? Hate it?

I missed this thread originally. I don't want anything perm as I like the idea of another baby. Our situation is both working and no insurance. I kind of need to work and my job is not preggo friendly. I would like something that is over the counter, but tired of condoms. Anybody have any luck with spermicides? I was stocking the area the other day and thought that might be a route to try.

Love Mirena, except for the unpredictability of periods. They did not stop completely but last only a 1-3 days and are generally much lighter than before I had it.

The first 2+ months were bad though. A lot of cramping, bleeding a good portion of those two months. But the 2 years since then have been fantastic. :)

I hear that they are pricey but work if used properly.

:shesaid:

Overall, I am ok with the Mirena, but I HATE the unpredictability.

I am annovulatory so I have a period maybe 3 times in a great year, sometimes 1 time a year. So for those who have regular heavy periods, they sing the praises of mirena.

My problem is that the period with Mirena is basically so irregular and so light that you babsically have to buy stock in pantyliners. I have to wear one daily because you never know when the period/spotting will come and for me it seems I have a lot more discharge than without it and the periods are never heavy enough for a tampon. I could really just use a pantyliner for the whole period if I want.

But it is reversable and I was able to easily continue nursing with it.

Let's discuss........

What do you use?

What have you used??

What has not worked for you and why??

I am looking into my options. I am looking more for monthly "maintenance" than preventing pregnancy.

WAIT FOR IT....

You do realize my DH always says to me "WWGD"- What would Georgie do?

Awesome and a little sad too.... Cause I iz a Jesus freak above and beyond a BJ freak. The WW_D should be reserved for the big guy!

Oh, you should hear his scripture references then. It is amazing how my husband and son are the same at church. They hear NOTHING unless it is about sex or women being submissive. DH can quote each and every bible verse that references sex, yet a few weeks ago he nudges me and says "what is John 3:16 again" SERIOUSLY DUDE!
