cake balls help?

When you guys make these, how much frosting do you mix the cake with? I have used a whole container before and they were just too sweet for us:(. Looking for any suggestions to perfect these!!! Thanks:)

I usually only use 1/2 to 3/4 of the tub. I used the whole tub of frosting my first time and thought it was too moist and not "cakey" ( I don't think thats a word lol) enough, they were still good but too "wet" if that makes any sense. It could always be the combination as well, i think some are sweeter than others. HTHs, good luck!

Forgot I posted about making these healthier cake balls....yeah, not so good. Not as sweet, which was okay but the texture wasn't quite right. Guess cake balls are just meant to be "bad" for you :)

I made a batch for my son's baseball party last summer and they were a hit with the kids but the adults, not so much. "Cake Clay" they called them. I don't like the frosting+cake mush interior texture. They are soooo adorable though.

That was kinda the consensus when I made them. I have had them before and they were awesome, so I will just keep at it. There has to be a perfect ratio!

I put them into the teeney tiny ice cream cones. They look adorable and imo are easier to dip and decorate, and you don't have to deal with sticks. I usually get the ice cream cones from super wal mart, it is like 1.50 for a box.

I love this idea. I might put ice cream inside refreeze them then put a ball on top and sprinkles.

This is why I love my cake ball maker from kohls.

I so want to make red, white and blue cake balls today but the heat is killing me. Oh wait I have a cake ball maker that Tracey talked me into maybe I should fire it up today!!
