Good morning all...cold start but warming up to close to 70 today with bright sunshine! I LOVE this weather! I'm definitely working out in the yard today.

Well, got to mom's and she announced she's not going to the casino. Her left leg was bothering her...well, I think it was her foot that was bothering her because after Janet (caregiver) and I talked more in depth about it with her and checked it out, Janet called the podiatrist and mom got squeezed in with a 5:30 pm appt. Good thing we went cause she had a wound under the callous at the tip of her 2nd toe.

So I went through the bills (only 1) and mailed off 2 more prescriptions to the mail-order med place. Mom had wrapped the 2 birthday gifts for her son and grandson but they hadn't been mailed yet...waiting on cards to go with them, so she wrote the cards and Janet mailed them for us.

Most of the day was spent trying to neaten up the place, throwing out old newspapers and junk mail. In the day's mail a letter came from a couple of mom's old hs classmates. They're planning a mini-reunion back in Westfield next month and talked about a luncheon. So I encouraged mom to call and accept the luncheon but not the overnight stay. I will take her to the luncheon and back home. I told her that it seemed the 2 ladies who wrote the letter live out of state, so that's why they have to stay in the motel. It's too hard to take mom for an overnight with all her paraphernalia. She called to RSVP and spoke directly with one of the ladies. She's excited now. :-)

Liz, glad you found a fantastic cleaning lady!

A'Liz, have fun in the yard.

SB, hope you enjoyed your curry. Can't wait to see BD's pics! That's a LOT of shutter-clicking! lol

Here we go again.. Whew, watta busy week. Our visit to Cornwells Turkeyville was a great time, with another bunch of nice ladies. The stage play was The Old Rugged Cross, and was very well done. The meal was a full bown turkey dinner! With all the trimmings. Gotta shuttle today, so I'll spend tomorrow editing pics and posting a few.

Gotta go.......>>>>>>>p00f>>>>>>

BD, I swear you stay busier than when you were working for DHL. And this sounds much more fun, LOL.

Carol, sorry about your mom's foot. At least she felt it enough to complain about it. And how neat about the reunion. I hope she does go.

Dh has an MRI today (checking to see if his brain is still there) and since it can rest the settings on the shunt and we will have to go over to that twit neurosurgeon's office to have the setting's checked, I have to go with him. Other than that, it's a pretty normal day around here. Liz

I'm glad you're kept so busy, BD. Sounds like a lot of fun was had by all! I guess I'm confused though...this trip you went on yesterday was not with the shuttle group?

Liz, hope dh makes it through the resetting of the shunt all right. How are you doing with locating a better neuro? Have you contacted Duke at all?

We looked on Duke's web site and to be honest, their neurosurgery dept is primarily focused on pediatrics. So we checked the home page of the NPH Foundation and the best docs are a group in Charlotte. IF the referral he has now to a new one here (after this visit) doesn't work out, our primary will refer us to that group. Charlotte is only 4 hours away...so that's doable...if we have to. Liz

A beautiful day so far and THIS time hoping to get dirt under my nails!! Gotta do the bank and bill thing first. Yesterday was just too darned windy. News said 45mph gusts and that was an underestimation if you ask me. My bird feeders flew off the trees! Decided to take advantage of the wind and wash sheets. Ha, I had to fold the sheets in quarters in the house so I could hang them on the line because they turned to sails when I attempted to fold them outside! Then having to run out every half hour to re-attach the six clothespins on each one. Jake next door asked if I wanted to use his vice grips :clapping: The towels I washed were nice and fluffy though, even without doing the "pre-line 5 minute dryer fluff-up cycle".

The wind finally died down to a stiff breeze around 6pm so I did piddle a little outside. Yard is de-pooped and cleaned up around the rose of sharon (they're between the shed and the fence so I had a windblock)

Carol, how exciting for your Mom and the reunion! Sure hope everything works out so she can go and very glad she's pumped up for it!

I agree with Liz, you sure have had a busy week, Darlene!

Hope Charles' brain is still where it belongs :Coopwink:

Beee-mootious day here! SB is rakeing, I'm back on my way out to shuttle the folks home.
Carol, all the driving I do is for the Community Center in their bus. There is a lady that sets up travel tours that go every where like Conn. next. She also does one day things like the museum and the theatre. Most times she hires a big tour bus, but now that I'm there, she uses us for trips with 14 people or less. Then other trips are the Centers, like antiquing, fairs and flea markets. Puffpuff! Keeping me busy. I really enjoy getting out of the house and love my "blue haired ladies". Besides, it's free lunch and admissions to all these places for me.

Like A'Liz, sure hope Charles' brain is right where it's supposed to be.

I am resting my back and my fingers...been washing windows and curtains here today as it's absolutely gorgeous outside...up to 75 today with bright sunshine! I wish this was the top temp for the summer as I could definitely DO this! lol I don't like 90's with high humidity at all!

BD, I forgot about the Community Center. I remember the time you drove to Grand Rapids was it? and couldn't park the bus! I would volunteer too, especially for the free lunch/admission! I know they sure do appreciate your help too.

A'Liz, ROFL at the sails description of the sheets, and especially the offer of the vice grips!!! That's a good one! I also had to fold my long curtains in half to hang them on the downstairs line. Too windy up here.

Liz, yes, Charlotte would be a doable distance to see the neuro if this other one doesn't work out. Waiting to hear if Charles has a brain after the MRI... :Coopwink:

Carol, it's kinda one thing, except Judy does "travel agent" type trips. Amtrack to Colorado, Florida...etc. She's really creative and does fun things, like trivia questions for small prizes during the ride. Lorie is the Senior program director and handles much of the events at the center and day trips we come up with. The pace is picking up because of ME! They had problems getting a regular volunteer to do the trips for a very long time. I saw the request in our local newsletter for well over a year. She is still looking for a back up for me as I don't do shopping trips to malls and stuff. I'd like to get some of the men involved too, but the only thing I have come up with so far is a Perch fishing charter on Lk. Mich. Heh heh, the guys seem to love going to the casino, but it's gotten so popular that we are hiring a 47 seat charter bus for those trips. The poor ole 14 seat "DarleneMobile" has been left behind. *sniff* If any of you have ideas, I'd look into them.

Wow! the weather has been great here! SB got most of the yard raked and over seeded to try for grass in the problem areas. All is go for the next few days to get the new beds and twig fences going.

I spent three hours shoved into a tube just big enough to fit me.

Jury is still out on whether I have a brain or not. Anyone want to place odds?!?!? :bluesbrothers2xq:

I could while away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain

*dee-do-do-do-do-do*

And my head, I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain

LOL, Charles, you know I couldn't resist! :Coopwink:

Wheeeeeeee*happydance* Dirt under my fingers. Yessireee, played outside! Tackled the vegetable garden, including the raspberry patch. Wow, did the creeping charlie take over that area! Decided instead of possibly spreading it by throwing it in the compost pile, I would haul it to the community pile--three trips! But on the second trip, someone "donated" two bales of old straw. Which of course I took! I swear I take out as much as I put in that pile!

At 8:30 and having emptied the "weed containers", I figured it would be dark soon so I quit for the day. And my knees hurt. My back hurts. My fingers hurt. But it's a better "sore" than from shovelling snow, I'll tell ya that much!!

I used old, wide boards for garden paths and they're deteriorating so thinking of what I can use to replace them (out of old wide boards here!) While at the community pile, I swung through the "city dump" behind the pile and found a pile of broken concrete chunks. Thinking that should work great and will retrieve a bunch.....later! Need to take a trip out to SisterKarens for some of her road apples and spread them and last season's compost first.

Ugh with yardwork, though, I like the posies. But I too need to work on mine. Last September's grass is struggling and I think I need to get some lime. Saw a little moss in a couple areas (soiltest? why? moss means acidic, clover means sweet :Coopwink:).
