Children's Tv Shows- Bash Bash Bash!

Dont diss kids shows! They were not made for you duh! If you dont like em get over it. It was made for the children anyways. If you dont like it DONT WATCH IT!!!!!!

i once read this online short story that this guy had written in the social response to the overnight popularity of that purple freak BARNEY.

it was about this kid who was coming to the age of 15 or something like that, and he had grown up on barney. barney brainwashes the children into killing their parents and the other adults of the US. anyone over the age of 15 would then be assassinated seeing as they were "coming of age." and in washington DC, he took over the white house, painted it purple with green spots.. over all it was a very disturbing story, but enjoyable nonetheless.

We had to watch children's TV shows for 3 hours in my psych class a few years back and rate them on the educational content. I wanted to kill myself. Right there in the classroom. Put a pen through my eye and into my brain. That **** purple dinosaur is the most annoying thing.

On a side note, Dave Chapelle does a great act about Sesame Street. He tears apart all the characters because of the stereotypes. For instance, Snuffy's the stoner, Bert and Ernie are the gay couple, the Count is the pimp. And all the kids always make fun of Grouch, saying stuff like "Grouch, you're so mean!" But look at him! He lives in a friggin trash can!

You know, I WONDER what these shows really DO teach the kids. I've watched them, and yeah, they drive me nuts. My friend has a 2-1/2 year old who instead of anything on TV has always watched "Baby Einstein" videos. I've actually sat down with this baby and have been as enthralled as she was! Her verbal skills are incredible, and she has a grasp of things that some adults can only HOPE to have.

i'm not sure that kids shows really teach anything. they are just non-controversial, easy-watching stuff made to occupy kids and not mess them up. they treat kids like kids, perhaps if they were to actually want to impart any real knowledge, or to actually teach, they would speak to kids in a less kid-like way.

I'd like to think that kid's shows teach a little of SOMETHING!! I never liked the idea of the electric babysitter.

Barney is pretty good. My son has learned a lot. It helps when he doesn't want to clean up, we just say, "What does Barney say?", and my son starts singing the "Clean up, clean up!" song, and starts picking up his toys. The Please and Thank You song is pretty good too. All in all, I feel safe having my son watch Barney. :eusa_ange

Now all we need is a an adult show with a "Time for Sex" song, so I can say to my wife, "What does Barney say?"! :eusa_danc :eusa_danc :eusa_danc

sorry

i would just like to say on behalf of great britain and her empire.......sorry about the teletubbies, someone reeeeealy dropped a bollock there!:eusa_wall

Those songs were around before Barney. It's more fun for me to be the Kiddie Idol. Not as annoying but still a headache. As for the "time for sex" song.. Let me know how that goes. LOL

Yes, we have them here in the States too. Not bad.

I heard that the Wiggles are one of the top 3 highest grossing entertainers in the world. Amazing.

They are bigger than barney. I can tolerate them more too. And they don't have such stupid looking fake actor kids on there either. I remember that one blond head boy that looked like a small 13 year old. He had a fake smile and I could just imagine him ****in at everyone when the cameras weren't on. He drove me nuts!!! My little one likes the wiggles. That's the ONLY thing she will watch TV for. That and Shrek.

I'm with Rascal. These kids shows now days scare the daylights out of me.WHY ARE THEY SO HAPPY?????????

the happy factor doesn't bother me, but it feels a lot more dumbed down these days. And it started with Barney, and his excentric accent, what was wrong with Fraggle Rock and the Muppets I grew up on them and I grew up normal, which I can't say for some of these people who grew up on Barney. Not to mention all of these shows are way too colorful. It's like they think throwing a bunch of colors at a kid is the only thing that will develope their brains, to be honest I think it's all this colorful T.V. that's creating all these ADD/ADHD problems.
