So it is the time of year not only to be annoyed by the commercialism of the holidays, and by the family festivities but by the holiday "cheer" or in some cases lack there of at work and with your bosses and coworkers.

So what do you think about company christmas parties, secret santas, the holiday bonus or lack there of?

This holiday Christmas party (this coming Saturday, the 9th) is gonna suck... I think I would be happy if I could let myself not go, but I already told everyone outside of work that it was this Saturday... so I have to go.The last company Christmas party that I didn't go to, everyone that I liked from work called me on the phone and I didn't recognize their phone number because they called from someone's phone that I didn't know and they made me feel guilty by asking me where I was, which was... in my car going to a movie by myself. haha =\

Well, this year includes the fun of not being at the same company, and while I'm at this company it is barely my second year, so it's not the same people at my new company. It's almost fun being at a company party with new people, but it's not even new people because some are already not there anymore and some are still there and disappointing. :( =/

The only thing that makes me look forward to it is my boss' daughter, who has a pretty mind and a beautiful voice. Which also sucks cause I would feel bad if I ever let myself fall for her because I know my boss would make me feel guilty and I know it would be wrong in every which way. =( So, I will sit, and watch, and listen.

Our work party is this friday. Last year they got us all 52" inch TV's, which I just traded to a friend for a TV I could use in my bedroom. I don't know what they are giving us this year. We all asked for bonus checks :p but We get our year bonus in a few weeks so I doubt they will give us checks. I have no idea what the **** they are giving us but I know it won't be as nice as the TV's last year. We've been a bit slower this year.

They party is alright every year. Free food and alcohol so I can't complain.

What the **** is secret santa

and our owners call it a holiday party not a christmas party because a few years ago a company down the street got sued by an employee that was offend etc... that it was a Christmas Party. I forgot the amount he won but I recall it was a serious amount of money and it really hurt that company.

**** someone give Eison a hug already.

Well since you are the only one here who seems to feel the need psychoanalyze my posts and say such things in response, I am guessing that's going to be your job.

Some companies do this thing where you put your name on a list and everyone that does, draws a name of a fellow co-worker to give a present to and you are supposed to guess or just not know who it is from. Several of the companies I have worked for do it, including my current one, but I always skip it.

*L* there's not a whole lot to analyze. :p

I don't like holiday parties, mostly b/c I don't like to make small talk and talk endlessly about stupid ****.

I do like the secret santa idea, although my current firm doesn't have that particular tradition.

this is a side topic but, do jews have anything like santa claus?

I don't like the company parties either. I don't make friends at work on purpose, so while there maybe people I don't dislike or think well of at the functions, there is no one there I really know or want to spend time with either.

Our company Christmas party is always pretty cool. Free food and booze. Nothing like a bunch of Mental Health/Rehab professionals around the booze...... We do secret santa but we keep it small. It often ends up getting pretty funny with gag gifts. Before Mrs. RR became Mrs. RR, I bought her a bottle of "Sex Grease" at Spencer's for her Secret Santa present.

(There was actually a different Mrs. RR at the time..........:shifty:)

i used to give steve dating advice, but never lubricant.

At first it seems like a nice idea but the fact you could end up having to get a gift for someone you don't know/talk to at work or wprse a co-worker you don't like would be weird. I'd skip it too
