I have seen a lot of people opening a joint account with their wife and I think that it's something good. It helps to save both of the couple the stress of next of kin incase any of them dies unfortunately fast. It also stops either part from spending extravagantly.

Personally, I wouldn't mind having a joint account with my wife but it's only on one condition. She will also be working and contributing her own quota to the money in the account. If not, she won't be party to my account ownership.

No. I don't like having joint accounts with nobody. It's a block to freedom. Bottom line, you gotta learn to manage money to be a functioning adult.

If I ever get married, I would have a joint account for bills and stuff, but I would still maintain my own for personal stuff.

Who has seen the movie, Casino? It offers a warning.

I watched the movie Casino before. I'm not sure if the whole movies was absolutely true, but it seems the husband of the main character made the fatal mistake of sharing an account, seeing that his wife became a drug addict eventually.

A lot of people feel this way when it comes to having access to their own money without having someone breathing down their neck on how and what they spend on.

Well, I agree that budgeting is important, and many people fall into a pit because they can't, but that's just the price of freedom. You gotta live and learn. You learn from mistakes.

Well, that's way different. In fact, a joint account may be needed for a person's mom to protect her maybe. Well, in my case, my mom has massive dementia.
