Well, here in America, you typically have to be 21 to be able to drink any type of alcohol. However, a person can go off to join the military at 18 (you can join the military at 17 if your parents/legal guardian give their permission). So why is it okay for someone to fight for their country at 18 years old but they have to wait until they are 21 before they can have a drop of alcohol?

Yep, i live i Oz where it is 18 to drink legally but teens get it other ways . It don't make sense really. Has this ever been brought upo in a political arena?

I see where you are coming from but when you fight for your country you will be undergoing extensive training that will make you learn many things and one of them being responsibility, but if you don't go to the military you might not have the responsibility to drink appropriately and do it in a 'irresponsible' way. This meaning when you hit 21 you might have a good set of common knowledge before drinking.

For me, I can join military with 18, drink alcohol with 18 and drive a car with 18. They have a good reason so it is fine for me.
