PIT> You have to decide which players are going to be in your lineup for Game 1.
Remember that injured players won't be playing, so they won't be contributing any points, and starting pitchers only pitch about every 5 games.

Once you get a feel for how each player is playing, and how things pan out against certain opponents, you'll have less management to do.

Also keep in mind that you can claim players off of free agency from the Waiver Wire, or you can make a trade with any of the other teams in the league if you want a different player for a particular position.

PIT . . . I will give you one piece of advice that may be able to help you with this problem . . . www.espn.com They will be able to keep you up to date with who's hot, who's not, and all that other baseball stuff.

I would suggest visiting ESPN.com and Sportsline.com, since they usually have excellent fantasy analysis.

Be sure to heed the info about the deadline for roster changes. If you miss the deadline, you will think that the players you put in for that game are playing, but they won't be.

Pit> Some tips for your first lineup:
1.You don't want to use your utility infielder position on a catcher: Use John Olerud for the time being.
2. Unfortunately Nomar is hurt for probably the next month so you may want to think about looking for a SS free agent or trade
3. I would start Abreu over Cruz
4. I would start Hernandez at RP and not use Nomo at SP
5. In general, you can use the Fantasy Points/Game numbers to see about how good somebody is. I like to see batters close to 3 or above ideally and S. pitchers over 13. Your RPs are both very good use them!

PIT&gt; Jourgenson's suggestions are good for the most part, but I think he was vague on one.
Nomar Garciaparra is one of the best players in the league, and a 2-time batting champion.
When he said you should look for a free agent or trade to cover SS while Garciaparra is injured, I'm sure he wasn't suggesting that you trade Garciaparra.

When you have one of the best players in the league on your team, who can consistently produce year in and year out, you hold onto him and wait out the injury.
I'm fairly sure he was suggesting that you try to trade or waive someone else to get a decent backup shortstop.

Yes...I'm glad Dan clarified that. Hold on to Nomar. If you can, try to pick up a better SS on the waiver wire or possibly through a small trade. In fact I probably wouldn't change anything until a week or so in the season. Since those current stats are last years and you never really know how a player will do (or even if he is the starter any more etc.).

In conclusion, do not dump Nomar. But I never really have untradeable players so, If someone really wanted him and offered a big trade, you can think about it. I would suggest you drop an email/PM to Dan or myself if you have questions about any possible trades and we will give you our opinions on them. Assuming we're not involved

Oh no!!!

Was I the only one that realized that we're about to start the season, and we're not doing Head-To-Head scoring?!?

Every other league we've done was head-to-head, meaning that each matchup was against another team, and the team with more points won that game.
This league is just straight Fantasy Point scoring, which means that we won't have competitive matchups against the other teams, and we won't have the stragety component, which has worked so well in the other leagues.

Hopefully, this scoring system will keep things interesting, but honestly, I would've liked to have played it the other way because it was so much fun to play that way in football and hockey.
