these are the ones i use all the time:

dom deluise: "eat this - it'll make you feel better"
moosewood restaurant: "low-fat favorites"
linda mccartney: "linda's kitchen" - she was a vegetarian extraordinnaire - god bless her soul.

We buy those Pillsbury picture of every recipe from the grocery store.

I love the Bon Appetit holiday cookbooks. They always have such neat (and usually complicated) stuff. I've sorta gotten out of my cooking habits, but for a loooooooong time I wanted to go to Johnson & Wales to be a chef. Then, I decided that I couldn't get up and cook for God only knows how many complete strangers every day. I'm happier cooking for family and friends. I usually go nuts around Christmas

BTW, Spider, you may wanna get this month's Bon Appetite. It had recipes from MooseWood in it.

Basically I like any cookbook for desserts!! I found a great one in a West Village bookshop that had a street sale. I also borrowed spider's Indian cookbook (my apologies for still having it).

I have a Southern Living Annual cookbook that, when I'm bored, will try one of the recipes of the month. And from time to time, I try one of the recipes from an Italian cookbook I picked up....something that uses anything other than ground beef or chicken.

One of my favorite restaurants is a vegetarian restaraunt in downtown New Haven's Yale area, called "Claire's" (I think it's offical name is "Claire's Corner-copia"). The owner released a cookbook a few years back, which should be available for purchase in any bookstore. Also, my friend's mom has a wonderful all-purpose cookbook simply entitled "How to cook everything"...so if you're in the market for one of those, I suggest you check it out!

forgot to mention that my brother got me a really great one for christmas: "the kripalu cook book - gourmet vegetarian recipes."

i've never heard of this one before but every recipe i've read so far sounds delicious. i'll post a few of them later if i have time :)

him and i love to cook together. only thing is, we live far away from each other and only get together a few times a year. he comes to my house usually and we make the most fabulous food creations - stuff that i would never normally think of

I am a cookbook fanatic!! I LOVE all cookbooks.
I have so many of them I couldn't possibly tell you a favorite. Although, the one I refer to most is 'The Treasury of Christmas'. It's got tons of recipes you can use all year round though.

I just started using the Betty Crocker one for Slow Cookers- awesome!

I really like the Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook. They have some complex things and some simple things. (Hell, they have a sammich section!) I really like specialty cookbooks, but this is the one I tend to use most.

the best cook book is my imagination ... however I like to visit some online recipy sources and even AS forums

Cook Books...

Right now I have been assembling my own Cook "Binders" by printing out recipes form online sources like foodtv.com, and epicourious.com, etc. But I have a few nice books that I have bought. There is a series of cookbooks call 365 Ways to Cook... Whatever... chicken. chinese, Italian, Beef, BArbeques, Deserts, Soups, etc. They cover most anything and there is a different book for each one. They have great recipes in them.

I also bought an interesting looking food book by Emerill Lagasse, Everday's a Party. It has some neat recipes and it also is a neat read as it talks about all kinds of holidays and traditional celebrations.

My favorite cookbook has become "The Gourmet Cookbook". Aside from someone's mind, if it ain't here, it ain't anywhere!

mmmmmmmmmmmmm foooooooooooooooooood

well I rarely use them but sometimes I need help with specific dishes so I refer to The Professional Chef - The Culinary Institute of America's 7th edition and The Essential Kitchen

I will have to check out some of these resources. Mostly I use the TV and internet. (www.foodnetwork.com) and keep my own book of all my favorites. Hand written in a small notebook, not the best way to keep them but does ok for now. Once I start cooking more Ill get more higtech maybe! LOL
