I, too, prefer clay courts for the same reason you do. However, it's good to play on a variety of courts if you play in competitions because you'll never know what kind of courts you ll end up on. I haven't played on a grass court before yet.
I've only played on the harder courts.. Maybe clay once but I really don't know. I'd love to try playing on grass but it seems difficult to me. Has anybody here played on grass or carpet to let us know what it's like?
I used to play tennis as a child and always preferred clay for some reason. My club also had hard courts, but I guess clay has a better "feel" to it if you know what I mean.
Clay is my favourite but I almost exclusively played on hard courts when I was growing up because I couldn't find anyone willing to play on clay, I thought it was just me that preferred it!
I have played on all four surfaces and like you, I prefer to play on clay. I played on clay courts while on holiday in Spain. I wish there were clay courts near where I live, I would play tennis more often.
I played on these weird sand courts when I was in Taiwan this summer. Didn't know they ever existed, and are terrible for tennis because the ball forms a little sand craters where it bounces and changes the trajectory of the ball whenever it bounces on it again later.
