Either would do man, as long as you go. I have been trying to organize my schedule and go for ages.
Yeap, full of excuses, but that is the life of an employee
I train at the gym for 3 reasons. I don't have the money for equipment, nor do I have the space for it. I like the gym atmosphere, seeing the other guys in better shape than I am gives me motivation. My girlfriend works out with me so it is much easier to use the machines for her. i think that if I did have the money and space I would enjoy working out at home better. It would be a 24/7 gym where i could play music as loud as I wanted and could yell and whatnot too.
I work out at home. We have an eliptical and one of the Gold's gym lifting set ups. I really wish I had the time and money to join an actual gym though. I feel a little more motivated if I know I'm losing money by not going and working out.
I workout out a commerical gym or my university gym. I would work out at home, but it's pretty dangerous (you can basically do everything except for benching by yourself). If you do the math, the equipment required to workout at home actually costs less than a full year gym membership. I'm probably gonna work out at home once I graduate college and when I start living on my own. I prefer not waiting for the equipment.
I work out at at a university gym three to four times a week. I was thinking of training at home, which would mean I would have to buy barbell weights, a bench and possibly a rack for home. However, I'm glad that I've chosen to join the gym instead because they have such a large variety of machines to use, such as cable pulleys, rowing machines and treadmills which would cost more to buy than the equivalent cost of a gym membership over 3-4 years.
Also, the atmosphere at the gym is just electric, everyone is working out so you have NO reason not to keep going on your own. There is every reason to be motivated and no reason to be lazy and be slack on your routine.
I train at home, in my garage. I have stable matts on the floor, I have a pull up bar, barbell, dumbells, 200kg cast iron weight, a power rack, incline/decline bench , a dip attachment and a T-bar row attachment.
I used to go to a specialty gym about 4 years ago when I was still training for Wrestling but we moved out to the suburbs and the gym was destroyed in Hurricane Ike so I don't go to a gym anymore.
There is one specifically for my neighborhood that I could go to but I doubt they have what I need as far as equipment goes.
I think working out at home is basically pointless unless you have the equipment - dumbbels, barbells and so on. You can't really make a lot of progress doing bodyweight exercises like pushups, pullups or situps.
