so I am making it for my daughter's teacher who is due the 9th. I will be bringing it to school tomorrow so far I have

micro mac n cheese bowls
various free nabisco cookies/crackers
olay body wash
olay bar soap
olay lotion
olay face cream
chapticks (a must)
pads
prep H wipes (her teacher and I are friendly so not weird I promise)
gum
tylenol patches (my back ALWAYS hurts after delivery)
hair ties
dry shampoo (got2be)
ponds face wipes

any other ideas? Things you forgot? Things you used the most?
thinking about gift cards for restaurants by the hospital since I didn't pay for any of the other products

Do you know which hospital she is delivering at? At CDH there is a full service 24 hour menu, so food isn't a necessity.

If you are comfortable with the prep-H I'd include witch hazel. I may be investing in whatever company makes witch hazel at the rate I'm going.

ITA w/ witch hazel too!
I LOOOOVED the Tucks Pads. Those provided a lot of relief.
If she is NOT nursing, a bottle of wine or some nice coffee? A case of her favorite soda?
If she is, I agree with Lanolin too, or the soothie cool nursing pads. The pads aren't GREAT but are nice to try at first.

Those "to go" little drink packets are always nice in a care package

Warner suggests gifting her with a basket full of bath powder, hair clips, hand lotion, perfume, books or magazines, candy bars, a makeup kit, stationary & pens, a manicure kit, and a hand mirror.

candy bars, crossword puzzles or magazines, snacks, labor coaching cue cards, juice boxes, pain reliever, gum, playing cards and a list of the names and numbers of everyone he'll need to call when the baby makes his or her debut

This one is more fun than practical:

OK - now I'm just looking to see what I'd love. Here's a page that expands on your original post:

I love this idea:
Photo-Op- There are a ton of great photo ideas floating around out there, especially of newborns. Some moms may not know where to begin capturing those memories and some may forget in the middle of the chaos that is the first couple days. Including a list of suggested and important photos to capture is a great way to remind mom and dad to treasure those first moments. It all gets hazy too quick!

What about a snack bag for hubby? My hubby was always starving when I had my kids. Fill it with granola bars and other snacks.

prep H wipes (her teacher and I are friendly so not weird I promise)

these were my best friend post pregnancy well I used tucks--same basic thing..

what about nice slippers (ones with rubber bottoms) or fluffy socks? Candy bars. I agree with snacks for hubby. My DH always felt gulity eating the snacks that were brought to me by the hospital (although i was sharing:-)

Soft socks are a must. It was the one new thing I bought before each delivery. The L&D nurses couldn't believe I didn't want to take them off when it was time to push. Umm, no, don't touch my socks, my feet are warm and happy. If they get dirty, it's okay, I'll wash them or trash them.

That is about ALL that was happy and warm! LOL....

when I delivered my son...they had extra people rushing in....DOOR WIDE OPEN, PEOPLE WALKING BY IN THE HALL....

enjoying the show??!?!

At least they didn't see my feet.....:dance::dance:

And yes, at some point my looking out the door looking at people walking by and looking in got a nurse's attention and she finally closed it for me.

That happened with my last delivery. This one nurse who I can't stand (i work there) comes in to check me and walked out to get something and leaves the door wide open. My nurse senses my trying to cover up and says "oh there isn't anyone out there" reeeeaaaaaally? At any second there could be and I work here. I would like the vagina viewing to stay at a minimum...thanks! My hospital makes you wear their awful brown skid resistant socks. After my section with Kasyn I ended up with those awesome ted hose for 24 hours. Those suck! I asked everyone who came in when I could 86 those bad boys!

maybe it's the germaphobe in me and kinda surprised no one else mentioned it, but I would suggest a bottle of hand sanitizer.
