How can people afford to do this?

That is crap.. we give our guys raises when we feel they deserve it most get a raise about every 3 months. usually .25 to 1.50 an hour plus they get tons of other benifits (ie FREE food, H&B, drinks, whatever) I would NEVER EVER not give a raise in 7 years... wow that is so wrong on every level...

You sound like a great employer. Where are you again, maybe we will move there. LOL

Agreed! He is the hardest worker and will give em the shirt off his back… he even left me and the kids during the time we flooded because they sent him to Texas to learn to run their new venture….. STILL didn't get a raise. THey take take take and never give back…. DISGUSTING!

Whenever we move outta state (and IF I lose my mind and go to Wisconsin)… I got the BEST and most loyal employee for you EVER!!! :)

Wausau Wisconsin. I don't think we are too bad to work for but maybe that is just MHO... If someone has to leave the shop by say 4 am or earlier I try my hardest to be here to see them off.. This morning I just couldn't do it I was awake but just tired to get up and come into the shop but I did talk to them via direct connect. We also try to be here when they are done for the day seldom do they come to an empty shop. And my Dh will work right alongside of them he always says he would NEVER have an employee do something that he don't himself do. I don't think I ever worked for somebody that cares about thier employees like we do. Had one that was thinking about driving truck over the road ( they get a small taste of it working for us) and he talked to me about it after really thinking about what he would be giving up he decided working for us was much better... I love the openess we have with our guys. They are the most valuable asset any business can have. It is easy to buy trucks and equipment but if you have no one in it , it does you no good.

Ha ha ha…. Peggy … DH is looking on Zillow for a house in Wausau….. cheap living that's for sure!

Does he have a CDL?? drivers license? Wausau in the city is cheep housing out of the city well.............. not real bad , tell him to look in Weston , Schofield that is where one of our shops is. IF you REALLY want country living SUPER CHEEP look into Wittenberg housing we have a shop there not as much work but when it comes there always interesting and (fun) had a 40 foot camper and pick up truck roll over this moring there.

C- class license… I keep telling him to get his CDL. We will see how this whole arm thing works out.. then maybe he will get on board. :9:

Our saying " big or small we tow them all" we are best known for our heavy duty towing towing semi trucks. Yesterday we had to tow a heavy hauler from Langlade 3 hours north of us (they haul the wind turbons) weight was 280,000 pounds legal semi weight without over permits 80,000. That is one that hold unto the seat better by clenching your **** up. We also haul tons of construction equipment and generators (like to round lake) lots of fema stuff for sure. Interesting the guys that get the tow bug love it the ones that don't get the bug hate it (until thier first semi truck roll over) LOL then they too will love it.

My boys would love to go with and watch!:cartwheel:

I also think there is a night and day difference between Schaumburg and Oak Brook Wildfire. Especially with the customers. We are closer to Oak Brook but eat at Schaumburg because our baby sitter ( my parents) lives across the street. We prefer Oak Brook.

I have a friend who is a server at Oak Brook and will pick up shifts at Schaumburg. She makes a lot less $$$ at the Schaumburg location. She said some of the Oak Brook servers won't work there because the money is so much less.

As for the location, the area is definitely not the same as say 10 years ago. Our family and fiends are dying to get out but can't because of the hit they will take when they sell their house. You should see what my parents paid for their house and how much the house next door sold for. On saturday DH saw the new neighbors and joked about how bad the neighborhood has gotten. He was not joking. They pay crazy taxes for what? My parents are really sad about how their retirement home and the area they raised their kids has turned out. My Mom wants to take the hit and get out ASAP. My Dad doesn't want to lose $$$. So everyday he will have to continue to listen to Mom complain. That cracks me up :)

I used to watch a show called Wrecked about that stuff. It was great.

That was Ohare towing out of Chicago. Funny DH and I would watch and he would scream at the TV you can't hook it there your going to wreck that (whatever) and sure enough they would wreck it. He liked Tyrec I think that was his name he said he would hire him but the rest of them not so much. What that show, showed was Ohare scanner chasing crashes meaning they would here them on the scanner and run like crazy to beat the other towing companies to the sceene so not good.... But agreed watched it all the time
DH always said that if they really wanted a good show they need to come up here on a good Shawano county weekend. Guranteed you'll never see the kind of crashes they have there any place else..... Our Wittnebreg location is the slowest one but they have the best interesting crashes ever seen.

Is it like that show? DH loved that show.

Here I like to think a little less drama. And lots less attitude, DH very much disliked the younger brother. And we do not scanner chase. Towing is supposed to be part of the solution not part of the problem. Runninng hammer down to get the call is a huge issue.. around here they started not allowing the scanner chasing tow companies the crash.

Scanner chasers same as shelf clearers..LOL..

But Peggy the part that would get me is the gruesome scenes.

I agree.. Ask DH how he deals with it (when they are bad accidents with bodies under vehicles ect) DH trys to do the calls himself because it is hard to deal with. He says he just looks like it is a manican, otherwise he would never be able to handle it. And he is giving the most respect for the family making sure not to do any further damage.

SIL's niece is a prime example of the way some people live nowadays. Husband works and has retirement $. He brings in about $5000 a month. She doesn't work. They have 1 child that is 12 y.o.

She spends like it is poison in the bank account and she needs to get rid of it as fast as she can.

etc etc etc
.

It sounds like life is unfair for SIL's niece. I almost cried thinking about that poor girl let alone the baby. The government really should step in and provide assistance to help her make ends meet.
