How did you meet your spouse?

We met in a bar/nightclub. I went with three friends and the thing I really liked about DH was that he actually talked to and bought drinks for all my friends too. He came up to me and asked me if I was the girl he saw at the tennis courts earlier that day. I told him "probably" but decided to talk to him because he was funny and nice. My friends liked him too. It was hard when my pastor asked us where we met. I couldn't lie to the pastor.

My hubby and I met 19 years ago, this July 31 married for 12 years. We met at Gala Lane in the pool hall area , our first date we met at the McD's in Warrenville and have been together ever since. I guess you could say high school sweethearts.

we were neighbors & our kids were friends. Prior to us dating, we did "neighbors who have kids the same age" things- we taught our kids to ride bikes together, went trick or treating- those kinds of things that just happen because you're neighbors with kids the same age. His wife had an affair at the same time my husband had an affair, and he was the only person I knew who was (getting) divorced. So, we went out to lunch one day so he could fill me in on the divorce process. That was August 2003. We started dating a couple weeks after that. :)

Everyone hears that we were neighbors & the eyebrows go up. It used to bug me, but I just don't care anymore. People will think what they think. It's funny that before that lunch, I had zero interest in him & really just wanted some scoop on what happens next after you file for divorce. We got married in 2006, after his lengthy divorce. His ex-wife is whacky. She'll tell people we used to be BFF's, when the reality is, I hardly ever even waved at her, let alone spoke to her, because she was such a raving ****. Ex-husband & I used to joke that it would be nice to befriend them because they had a boat, but it was too bad that she was such a flaming ****. Well, now I have her boat and the perfect husband. :bliss:

That happens to us, too, because we "knew" each other before.

I joke with my DH that if my nephew was my bio son, his ex would NEVER believe he (my nephew) wasn't my DHs. They are literally the spitting image and everyone always assumes DH is nephew's dad. My nephew looks more like DH than his own kids do :giggles:

We were in the same second grade class. I remember him as the kid who always stood up when he raised his hand for which he was frequently in trouble from the teacher for 'jumping the gun.' We went to the same middle and high schools, even worked for the same company during the summers. We became good friends in high school, his feelings grew to more than friendship, so I gave him a chance the month before I left for college and we've been together ever since. We had a long-distance relationship throughout college and grad school and after we were both done with school, we moved in together. A little over a year later we visited the courthouse for a no-frills ceremony. :)

Funny fact: Both of our families lived a couple houses down when we were both babies and later moved into houses practically in the same subdivision. Small world, eh?

I met DH's best friend at a party (he was DJing)........a totally fun guy (I had a boyfriend of two years at the time). A couple weeks later I needed him to come help me move furniture in my apartment so he brought his friend along (my DH) to help. I thought DH was really cute and very nice so I tried hooking him up with one of my roommates but he wasn't her type. Long story short I broke up with my boyfriend to be with DH and was engaged to DH 7 months later. We've been married 16 years in Oct.:cartwheel:

(oh and over 18 years later, I still email with my ex-bf sometimes) :quiet:

OK, gory details...not really too gory but... :giggles:

I had just ended a 3 month "dating" (wouldn't call it a relationship- hence the reason for it ending:lol:) and was fed up from that and had tried online dating years before b4 w/o much luck, but thought I would give it another whirl. Well, I joined the site b/c there were 2 guys that caught my eye. I wrote them and neither wrote back.:pout: So, I decided to search out some others and found my DH (he was called "TraditionalOne" and I was "AdventureGirl"). I wrote him and he proceeded to write me back and thank me for my interest, but he was dating someone exclusively from the site already. I thanked him for responding and wished him luck. Fast forward four days later...he writes me and says that things have changed in his situation and he would be interested in getting to know me better. That was Aug of 2003 and we were engaged in Oct. 2004, and married in May 2005.

I just checked....my testimonial is still out there on the website 9th from the bottom of 1st page.

We met on myspace (during our senior year of HS) - a mutual friend of ours was in some trouble and he wanted me to let his friend AJ know what was going on. I PM'd the wrong person... we started talking and learned the next day, our lockers were and had been next to each other all 4 years... and the whole time (before we met) i thought he was weird, he thought i was a snotty ****.

Our first impressions were pretty right on

inseparable and best friends ever since

We met January of 1996, a mutual friend had suggested that I might be interested in helping DH at a trade show he was exhibiting at. We went to Chinatown for dinner after the trade show, got to know each other as friends over the next few months, then realized that we were exclusively seeing each other. February of 1997 he proposed, and we were married on May 10, 1997. He is truly my best friend , and while we, as all couples, have our disagreements I wouldn't trade him in for anything.

I met my DH thru a personal ad in the paper. Although here is the ironic part...at the time I was living in Chicago and only wanted to meet folks in the Chicago area..he was living almost an hour and a half north and somehow he saw my ad in his paper even though the two were not related...years later we still can't figure it out but I love him dearly and so glad I gave the "country boy" a chance!

Hubby and I met at a trailer park, lol. It's a summer campground our families both had trailers at. I was 9 and he was 10 when we met. We were best friends growing up. We tried dating when I was 16, but it was just too serious for a HS relationship. We stayed friends and decided to give it another shot about 6 years ago, been together ever since :).

I was PMing with old bf on FB. Hmm his wife must have put a kabash to it since he is rarely on anymore. I think I know why, she was the rebound girl. We just talked about the stuff that happened to us since we where no longer together. I didn't nor did he ever say anything but generic bs. Wife must be insecure.

I met DH through a Catholic young adults group. It met in Inverness and I was from Woodstock. We were introduced to eachother because DH was living in Woodstock, too. He had been teaching at my old highschool, so we knew a lot of the same people. We talked all night. We started dating a month later, got engaged 3 months after that and married the following June. We've been married 8 years!

Parents Without Partners...AKA Pricks Without Pussies and vice versa...28 years ago...

After I graduated high school. in 1977 a part time night crew job turned into a full time day job and I worked in the office with his sister. He was in town visiting and she asked if I wanted to meet him. Our first date was to her softball game and we said maybe 3 words to each other. I thought nothing would become of it but he called me at work to go out to lunch. I don't remember how long he was in town maybe a few weeks but he had to go back home about 2 hours away. I still lived at home ( I was 17) and had a curfew. I would stay with him as long as I could and race home within minutes of getting into trouble. I got my fist kiss on the porch leaving one evening.

After turning 18 I wanted to move out and in with his sister. By this time he was living with her. My parents said no. So I found a basement apartment for $105 a month about 4 blocks away. He moved in with me. :)

We lived together for 2 years and then got married at the courthouse. We have been together for 34 years and married 32. It has NOT always been easy. Hubby is my first, my only and my whole world.

My twin sister was in town from NC and separated from her DH. We met for dinner after I got off work, I didn't look my best because it was a last minute thing. After dinner she insisted that we go to this local bar to play darts. She wasn't fooling me, she wanted to meet a man. I said to her "Who the HELL do you think you are going to meet a XYX Bar"???!!! But off we went...it was PACKED on a Wednesday night.

I was pulling the darts out of the dartboard, turned around and there was this HAWT guy showing someone pictures of his DS and I literally just KNEW. I went over to sis and said see him? You can't have him...he's MINE. Well she did anyway...I went to the bathroom and I came back and she was flirting with him!! So whatevs...we ended up at a 4:00 bar with a few other people. They exchanged numbers but that was it. She woke up the next day and had no interest in him at all (shocking!).

So I drove by that bar every night for a week looking for his car and never saw it out front :pout: on the last night (this was the following Wed) I said F* it...I'm going in for a drink and going home. I walked in and I hear "JOY!" It was him!!!! :cartwheel::cartwheel: He was parked BEHIND the building! :dunce: this was on Dec. 11, 2007

We played pool and stayed out late, had our first "real" date 2 nights later and have been together ever since, and set up house together less than 2 months later on Feb. 1, 2008. Craziest thing I'd ever done in my life. But when you know - you know!!

Yeah we got in touch initially through fb, but took it to emails. We haven't talked about anything inappropriate either. Just talked about our break up...........he was crushed when I dumped him and was shocked to hear that my DH is the guy I dumped him for. He then dropped out of college, got heavilly into drugs and became an alcoholic and went through hell for years. I was shocked to hear all this. He's been clean/ sober for 8 years which is good. He had a 5 year marriage (divorced now) with no kids. SOOO glad I didn't stay with him.

We met in 1988 at a bar. My best friend and I went to a different happy hour every Friday night. We would find out who had the best food and go there there for our dinner. We went to the Adam's Mark (in St. Louis) and her boyfriend brought his friend. The first thing he said to me was "your bra strap is hanging out" which pissed me off.

The next day the friend had a bbq that I went to and there was this guy again. We talked through the party and I slept over (alone) because it was far from my place and I was liquored up. Nothing happened, just talking.

The next day he was leaving to come back here and he had a pair of shorts on that were ripped and I said "I can see your underwear". After he went back we talked on the phone and then I came for a visit with the other couple. We dated long distance and got married in 1990.
