How do you keep your members interested?

Just wondering how everyone kept their members interested and how you entice new members in?

Do you hold contests or update your forum regularly with new threads?

I am trying both, but haven't worked out well. :D

Holding a contest currently but we don't do that often. I just tend to keep things fresh, release a new resource every now and then or a new add-on that they can play with. It is just about keeping things fresh really. Of course, content helps.
