:hiphip: Happy Anniversary. Our 10 year anniversary was last week! We had it at the Oak Lawn Hilton.

We got married outdoors at an Italian-style villa in the northern suburbs and had a brunch reception for about 200 people. The brunch was about 80.00/plate but much higher by the time they added in that **** 18% gratuity and taxes that they automatically tack on to all catered events. I know what you mean...would be nice to have that money back. We had to pay for our wedding...no help from anyone. Guess that's why it took us 12 years to take the plunge!!! :lol:

The daughter of a former co-worker of mine is getting married on the boat sometime next year.

Yeah, weddings are a huge business and these days, 100.00/plate isn't considered to be a big deal anymore. I have family that lives on the west coast and east coast and they'd LOVE to pay 100.00/plate ... that's cheap out where they live.
 
The $110 is JUST FOR THE RECEPTION... that DOES NOT include anything else!!

Yup, they are paying for it themselves.. I guess her DF owns a couple bars in Berwyn/Cicero... and he does some other stuff-- They were able to pay for this wedding IN FULL/CASH w/i 9 months of their engagement!! WTF?!?!?!

Of course, I will have my camera- so you will see some pix... now, WTF do I wear?
 
OMG that is crazy. Years ago in the 80's Angelo Caputo's daughter got married and they paid $110 a plate.

We paid $42 for prime rib at Porretta's in 1995.
 
It was roughly $12 per head in 1999....served buffet style with Chicken and roast beef :) we had SO MUCH leftover....it was insane! The day after when we were opening gifts, my parents were begging people to take stuff lol

My entire wedding, my dress included, was less than 7K. We rented the decorations too!
 
2007 - $19 a person at St. Moose (ha ha Moose club). Had beef burgundy and chicken, two sides, salad, rolls and relish trays.

3 years and a day - today!!!

Hi.. courthouse wedding and brunch afterwards..... talk about cheap-o!! LOL I wouldn't have had it any other way!
2nd wedding for both of us, we learned the first time, it's the marriage that matters not 1 single day.
 
If I remember correctly ours was about $8.50 a plate at Ray Harringtons on Central Ave in Chicago! (1994) People still talk about how that was one of the best wedding parties they have ever been at!
 
18.00 a plate with full bar in 1984--That was for family style at the tables--
back then they did the table decorations--we didn't have to figure any of that out
That does not include the photographer or the DJ--that was strictly the meal--we had it at a restaurant--people told us it was the most fun they ever had--and asked us if we would get married again just to do it all over--
My niece got married 2 years ago--she did an off season in March at Cantigny--she paid 80.00 per person--and they had to do all the table decorations--and gifts to give to everyone---plus the DJ and then extra for the dessert table and tea table they did for later
 
We were $35 per person- it was in the afternoon, so it was cheaper :) yeah cheaper. But what was better was that afterwards my dad had everyone back at the house and ordered about 12 pizzas from all different pizza places and everyone had pizza Chicago style. Most of our relatives are from Michigan.
 
We were married in 1988 (will be married 22 years November 5th) and had the reception at Outrigger's in Tinley Park. We had 180 guests and paid $18 a plate - that was for a divine plate of carved roast beef, mixed julienned vegetables, twice-baked potato and it included a full bar. Outstanding meal, and everyone had a freaking excellent time! People still recall and comment on what a great reception we had.
