HOW TO GET YOUR GIRL TO READ COMICS

So you've gone and got yourself a girlfriend. Congratulations. And she's the real deal. She's seen the toys (even if she hasn't touched them cause you told her you don't like that) and she's seen the video games (and has come to accept that playing "Halo" on the X-box is the closest you're going to get to any real exercise.) She's darn near perfect. There's just one thing. Your new love doesn't get along with your first love-- Comics.

Now this will suit some of you just fine. Comics serve as your sanctuary, your escape from the world, your private time. Mom could stomp around the house and scream at you for whatever you'd messed up that day, but you didn't care. You had the latest "Micronauts" comic tucked safely in your Social Studies book. Locked in your room, you could retreat from the battlefield of your home and venture into a fantastical world where little people rebelled and fought for freedom against a tyrannical overlord. And boy could you relate. So even now you want to keep the comics private. It's a door you can shut on the world-- your boss, your landlord, and yes, even your girlfriend.

This column is not for you.

But for those of you who dream of discussing "Y: The Last Man" over dinner with your girl or rolling over in bed to see her reading your latest copy of "The Walking Dead," I'm here to help.

 Neil Gaiman wrote 'American Gods' which I just read. lol. Hey, I used to read comics years ago. I haven't read one in a long time, but if it was in front of me, I'd read it. ;) But then again, I'm a rather odd person for a girl. :P

Articule doesn't apply to me unless it were called "how to get your girlfriend to read comcis you haven't even read yourself".

Screw that trendy crap. If your girlfriend digs Batman Begins or the Spider-Man movies then get her Batman: Year One, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Spider-Man: Blue and The Amazing Spider-Man tbp's voulmes 1-7. Then some Grant Morrison and Mark Waid JLA :P .

considering that I have a decent shape and she is the one with the PS........

and as much as i like comic books my real love are big robots.

and she can live with that as I can stand through a chick flick without doing anything just watch the movie.

I think lots of girls are reading comics now, and a lot more girls and people in general would if they'd just pic one up that interested them.

You should see the lineups I had to endure to buy a gundam seed written novel in a comicbook store yesterday....... and mostly girls either holding manga or a comic book.......

wonder why is so stereotyped when I see in the EB a decent amount of girls buying games and in comic book stores comics and manga. yet is so unaccepted that me an my geekish apearence doesnt fit as lead guitar and vocal.
