I want a tried and true one. I know I can search for recipes, but I would like to see one's that peeps I know have used and liked. TIA

BTW DH requested this for today's game among other things....pfft. You would think he's not allowed in the kitchen or something.:surrender:

Ok, I have not tried this one but it is on my todo list as I saw Paula Deen make it and it has great reviews...looks good and maybe a last minute attempt if you cant find a recipe to try...I just might try it this week.

  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3/4 cup diced onion
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped green chiles (fresh or canned)
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • Pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 bunch cilantro leaves, chopped
Directions

Rinse beans well, cover with cool water, and soak for 2 hours. Drain. Place beans in large pot with chicken stock and bring to a boil over high heat. In a saucepan, heat butter over medium heat. Add garlic, onion, and chiles and saute for 5 minutes. Add chile mixture to pot with beans. Add chicken, cumin, oregano, pepper, white pepper, red pepper flakes, and cilantro. Lower heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, for approximately 1 1/2 hours. Serve with cornbread, if desired.

Lol Paula Dean's recipe was the first one I was going to try (I like almost all of her stuff). I ended up going with one very similar. I found that the ingredients in different recipes are pretty much the same, just different amounts. I went with this one and it's great!:

It was a hit!!! My neighbor guy even told me to tell his wife the recipe and that I'm the white chili maker from here on out. To me it's hot, but they also added hot sauce to their bowls.
