Former New York Mets outfielder Lenny Dykstra was sentenced Monday to three years in state prison in a grand theft auto case.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Cynthia Ulfig sentenced Dykstra after refusing to allow him to withdraw a no-contest plea.

The judge said the theft scheme showed sophistication and extensive planning.

Wow, this comes as a big shock to me. Three years in prison is a lot, and I had no clue that Lenny would ever do this. I honestly feel sorry for him and hope that his life gets better for him and his family.

This really doesn't surprise me. I remember reading a story in Sports Illustrated (I think) a few years ago about what he was up to. He was doing some sort of investment, money managing thing and "chasing the cheddar" as he put it. I remember thinking, as I was reading, that he seemed like a sleaze, running some semi-legal money making scheme. I guess he graduated to more traditional crimes.

Yea man, he is a sleazeball. He is completely broke and decided to take his scumbagness to another level and steal cars apparently.
