Minecraft troubles

I'm having troubles getting minecraft to run properly on my Dell Studio laptop. I get to the login screen, but as soon as I login, the screen goes black. I've tried it on Windows 7 with no luck at all. When I try it on Ubuntu, I can sometimes get it. It works best when I delete everything in the .minecraft folder to make it redownload everything when I run it. When I hook my laptop up to my monitor, it goes back to a black screen though.

This is what I get when I run it in cmd line on Ubuntu with my monitor using the cmd "java -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame"

Thanks for posting this bud, this is a friend of mine and I told him to post this here.
I know we have a few guys/gals that play minecraft, hopefully someone can help him out. :wavespin:

Woot! I got it working! I downloaded the most current Lightweight Java Game Library files from sourceforge and replaced the files in ,minecraft/bin and .minecraft/bin/native with these new files!

No problem! I also installed Zan's Minimap mod while I was at it!

oh ya, what's that do?

It adds the little map in the top right corner of the game, like in that screenshot. You can also add waypoints, so you can find your way to certain specified areas of the map. This mod works in single and multiplayer mode too!
