:surrender:DD2 1/2 has had diarrhea for 3 days now. I'm doing my best to try to help the diaper rash from getting worse, but it's breaking my heart to hear her tell me that her 'tummy hurts...gotta calla docker'....She's not eating much, drinking isnt as much but still okay, no fever....any suggestions how to help her upset stomach and diarrhea? TIA :flowers:

Def follow brat diet. No milk or dairy at all. There is something called Florastor that you can mix with water and will help regain the good bacteria that she needs to get better.

BRAT diet - Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast

Poor girlie.

Also, sounds crazy, but try liquid Maalox on the diaper rash. Use a cottonball to apply. Let dry and then cover with whatever diaper cream you use. DS had a horrible reaction to antibiotics at 1 and had a rash so bad he was bleeding. This is what helped it heal.

The doctor suggested a probiotic at the time too. Can't remember the name for the life of me (6 years ago), but your doctor might be able to suggest one.

ETA: Posting at same time as Stazmatic...Florastor is what I was thinking of.

3 days of diarrhea, not eating or drinking much is tough on a little one and dehydration can happen so fast...go to Dr. asap

No fever? Are you giving a fever/pain reliever?

For hydration i would do powerade or gatorade. I'm a fan of the yellow a&d for diaper rash (not white, it burns!) Maybe even crackers would be good. My DS2 had something like that for about a week. He didn't complain of his stomach hurting though, just had dirarreah for about a week and didn't eat too much. After awhile it went away though

Right. When my younger one was a baby he got dehydrated. He had to have an IV to get fluids in him quick.

I am also a fan of the yellow A&D for the rash. It is one of the only things that works for my son. Also a persistant diaper rash can be a sign that it has turned into a yeast infection, in that case you use an anti fungal cream, I use Lotrimin(sp) for my little guy. For the diarrhea, I would also try giving her some Jello water, just mix jello and then let it cool down a little. It tastes yummy and I swear it works wonders!

Agree with everything here...especially yellow a&d and definitely go to walgreens of target and pick up some florastor!!!! Our pediatrician highly recommends it and it really helps stop the diarrhea.

:shesaid: It is time to go to the doctor.

definitely take her to the dr. and also yogurt...the adult normal kind like regular yoplait strawberry or any other flavor will also help as the cultures help to balance the stomach...although the dairy could also aggravate her so definitely double check w/the dr. Good luck and hope she gets well fast!
