I want to make a dessert for thanksgiving to bring to my inlaws. I would love it to be something that has been tasted and loved. I usually will make cookies, brownies, chocolate covered pretzels or something along that line which is easy and uncomplicated but would like to make something alittle more festive. Preferably not an apple or pumpkin pie since they will most likely have both. Anyone have any ideas? A recipe you love?

how about no bake cheesecake? you can garnish it with whatever you like or even mix choc. chips or whatever you like into the basic recipe to dress it up....just take a brick of cream cheese around a cup of sugar and a tub of cool whip, mix it all togeether and pour into a premade graham cracker crust...I recommend using a hand mixer to make the consistency nicer...let it firm up and get cold for about 2 hrs. and wala, quick and easy and EVERYONE loves it! You can also google no bake cheesecake for more ideas. HTH.

random idea....pumpkin sorbet

though not good if traveling

Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting

Those were really good...I made them in individual small mason jars.

I'm making this for thanksgiving:

This is my go to dessert for Thanksgiving: Apple Cranberry Crisp

It's sweet but the cranberries add a nice tartness...a great contrast!

If I'm going to someone else's house for dinner I'll assemble ahead of time and then just throw it in the oven after dinner. It makes the house smell wonderful!

Cool Whip (or Aldi brand) whipped cream... Crush peppermint candies ( red and/or green) and mix in whipped cream and refridgerate over night... Changes the color of the whipped cream and gives it a minty flavor... Very pretty and festive and seasonal taste...

Pepperidge Farms Pirouette Cookies to dip in the cool whip:

Aldi's also has their own version.

Simple and a favorite with my family. Something my kids bug for each year.

Add an oreo crust to this cool whip for the mint/choco combo. I have a recipe that uses marshmallow and dinner mint with cool whip over the oreo crust. Yum!

How about the old standby pumpkin roll? It's much easier than you'd think it would be and travels very well. Plus it's super yummy!!

I need to get out of this thread before DH thinks I'm trying to kill him ...death by dessert.

I have a recipe given to me years and years ago by my ds preschool teacher. Let me start by saying I HATE PUMPKIN PIE. I mean I would rather stick a fork in my eye than eat pumpkin pie. At the Christmas program they served us dessert. Ds teacher puts a pumpkin pie square down in front of me, sits down and tells me it's her grammy's prized recipe or something like that. I had to eat it, she watched me. Oh my, it was so good. It has lots of cinnamon and yellow cake so the pumpkin is not super pronounced. Put a squirt of whipped cream and it's heaven. Did I mention I HATE PUMPKIN PIE....PUMPKIN EVERYTHING.

Ok, when I get off my lazy $%^& I will post it if you want. Having trouble moving, just got home from 12 hour day.

Thanks everyone for the ideas and recipes!!! Now to decide, they all sound and look yummy!! :)

How about a pumpkin crunch cake? It's basically a cake mix with a crunchy topping...super simple, very moist...I will look for the recipe...it's very good and would be a nice seasonal choice.

I have this in the oven now. I'm afraid it will become one that we get addicted to.....waiting patiently for it to bake.

Very, very tasty. I used almonds on top as pecans where way too expensive.

Awww...I am jealous! I love this dessert but two of my kids have a nut allergy so I end up eating it alone and that is very dangerous. We are going to Disney next month so I've been dieting for the last 3 months...down 16 lbs and if I made this...it would be back on me instantly. Enjoy...be sure to post a review after you've eaten some!
