New Dog, need opinions!

Congrats to you! Yay!

And I go to NAWS in Mokena for yearly shots and had all my dogs fixed there. Love it. Better than the vets out here (for yearly shots). I've been to ALL the vets in Channahon and Minooka...therefore...I go to NAWS. :)

Petco in Shorewood had the CUTEST pups there last weekend from that Cache Creek place. I soooo wanted one of them...But 3 dogs, a cat, and a tortoise...DH would have left.
When I grow up, I want to run a shelter![/QUOTE]

We adopted a pup from them last week. They said she is a short hair pointer, but our neighbors say she looks exactly like a blue tick ****hound. Either way, she is a great puppy.

We also adopted an English Setter from Cache Creek about 2 years ago. Great rescue group. They always have a lot of wonderful dogs of all ages looking for a forever home.

How was Lulu's first night in her new home?????

Surprisingly well. We got her a crate to sleep in. She was never in a crate before. Went right in and laid down. Not a peep out of her all night. My dh got up early and let her outside, then she went back and laid down for a couple hours. She is a little more brave today - trying to steal the kids food and stuff, but really she is great. No accidents in the house. She is great with the kids. I am really surprised on how well she behaves. She came from a kill shelter so they weren't sure on her birth date or where she came from, but when you get a dog like that you have no idea how her previous owners treated her.

I am trying to keep her out of our bed. Our last dogs were both in our bed all night, so it got kind of crowded in there. I am hoping she stays in the crate and we can eventually trust her to just stay downstairs. I am still not thrilled about the name Lulu, but we keep calling her that and she responds so she knows her name. I was thinking of Lucy because that sounds similar to Lulu. My DH can't be happier. He was so depressed when the other dogs died. It is nice to see him excited again. He was finally off work for a few days so that is why we chose to get her now. I will see how everything goes on Monday when I am alone with everyday all day :)

Aww... sounds like she is a good fit for your family. Congrats! I wouldn't worry about the name... they learn new names quickly, if you want to change it.

Sounds like she's doing great! I agree about changing the name - they'll learn quickly to respond to any name that will get them food and treats.

Here is Holly. Brought home from Cache Creek rescue a couple weeks ago from the Petco in Shorewood. We picked her up right on Friday night when they first got there, so unless you were there when they brought in the dogs, she was already home with us.

and here is Lilly. Our 2 year old English Setter also from Cache Creek. We got her when she was about 6 months old. I think I liked getting the older dog better than all this puppy nonsense!

Thanks for sharing the pics & congrats on your new family member! Holly is adorable and Lilly is absolutely beautiful.

I agree with your neighbors. She does look like she has some blue tick **** hound in her. She seems to have that trademark "ticking" (the white spots/markings on her torso). What a cute dog! congrats!!!

Here is a new picture of Lulu with my daughter. She is getting along great with the kids.

Cute doggie! I just want to say THANK YOU for adopting a dog from a kill shelter. I know they can only stay a few days and then are put to death. You saved her life!

Well we didn't get her from the kill shelter, the Humane Society did, we got her from there :)
