If someone posts a full size image, you can't go into the gallery unless someone posts a thumbnail or attachment.

It could possibly be just a bug in the system, we'll have to wait and see, although if you post the full size image, it scales it down to a reasonable size anyway, so there really is no need for the lightbox feature for those images.
