NFL Expansion

1. Las Vegas- Why this city doesn't have may major sports teams is just baffling to me. I'm not sure why teams hate Vegas so much

It baffles me too. Maybe it's because the players wouldn't have much to do, other than stuff that often leads to them getting into trouble.

Haha I'm sorry as for I don't have a serious answer to this question, I just thought to myself "what team would I like to see REALLY?" But I couldn't think of one, then I thought of my town name and if it had a team.

Los Banos Inodoro

Sounds weird I know but translate it....XD

P.s. If you can't tell....it's Spanish ahhahaha.

Birmingham - Birmingham is an interesting choice, for a few reasons. First of all, there are zero major pro sports teams in Birmingham...or Alabama as a state. The closest pro sports markets (Atlanta and Nashville - ~145 and ~190 miles away, respectively) are far enough away where the market could work. Secondly, considering its place in Southern history, it seems like Birmingham (and Alabama) should have a pro sports team (outside of the Auburn Tigers, of course). The only potential setback I see would be Birmingham (as a city/metro) is on the much smaller side of NFL markets, and the city is college sports crazy (between Alabama and Auburn).

Birmingham, and Alabama as a whole is a College Football state. I do no think a pro team will do well there.

LA would be good, and maybe Oklahoma. I think there has to be a large market (Greenbay is the exception) and a higher standard of living for a new team to break ground.

But as far as adding teams, I think this would be a bad idea. Some states can lose a team, New York, Florida, and Texas.

That's the same thing I said in an earlier post. Some states with 2 or 3 teams should just move 1

Especially the Giants/ Jets because they LITERALLY share a stadium. That should be an embarrassment for any PROFESSIONAL team.

Raleigh-Durham,obviously a very large TV market, but not centralized (multiple large population centers -- including Fayetteville, I believe). The Carolina Hurricanes (NHL) are the other major pro sports team in this market.

Again, size is the biggest thing going for this market...

But the biggest drawbacks would be that the population is very spread out, and there is already another NFL team in the state (Panthers in Charlotte ~140 miles away)...though not nearly as close as Tampa/Orlando.

My Top 3 places are

1. Las Vegas- Why this city doesn't have may major sports teams is just baffling to me. I'm not sure why teams hate Vegas so much

2. Oklahoma City- Their support of the Thunder prove they would show up for an NFL team if given one and I like the idea of more teams out west

3. Birmingham- I only pick this because there does need to be another team down south and Nashville, New Orleans and Atlanta are already taken. For so many good players to come out of Auburn and Alabama it seems like it would be good for them to have a home team to support

What about the second largest city in the US? Makes no sense that there is not a team in L.A. More than 32 teams creates a major scheduling problem. 32 divided by 4 = 8. What you do with 33, 34, 35?

I don't think there should be any expansion. There are plenty of teams already if anything reduction would be more appropriate IMO.

Longer season, expanded roster, more bye weeks.

It opens up a whole new can of worms.

I would like my city to have one. It would be funny.

That would be great anything to spice up some dull seasons. I think Vegas would be a good idea lots of money flowing. But I would also like to see foreign teams, I know this would be difficult for scheduling and what not but I just think it would be interesting to see, even if it were just Canadian teams. Just a thought.

Yeah, Los Angeles seems to be a pretty solid option considering the local fanbase. But think about Roger Goodell not caring about NFL going back to L.A. Anyways, I think Dexter´s idea on sparing out a team to be good, why should PRO teams share a stadium? :)

I think it should be L.A. They are the biggest city without a team. Although every time they have received a franchise they always just move away.

With the NFLPA preaching player safety player safety player safety, do you really think they'd be in favor of a longer season? It puts more wear and tear on these guys, and most players are against it.

I think a longer season would be legit! :) I don't play, so i'm naturally for it. I hate the off season... never anything to watch on Sunday and Monday!

If they extend the season by a couple weeks... i highly doubt it will put much more wear and tear on them.

I don't think it would either, but the NFLPA claims it would, and they are the ones who would have the ability to veto it.

I'm all for an 18 game season, 60 player rosters, and a larger practice squad, but I don't make that decision.

I thought I read somewhere that they tried putting this in the new CBA but couldn't, so now it's off the table for 10 years, which is the length of the CBA

Holy... I didn't know that.

10 years, wow! They were talking about it pretty heavily last season, I haven't heard anything since the playoffs. I wonder if this is a dead issue now. :( would make me sad if it is. I was really hoping for a longer season.

I don't know, maybe the CBA is open for negotiation at a certain point, but I thought I saw that the new CBA means 16 games season until at least 2021.
