Ohio kidnapper faces execution

The man responsible for the kidnapping and raping of three women in Ohio could possibly face the death penalty for his crimes; he also faces charges for murder based on evidence that he physically abused and starved one of the victims to induce miscarriages after impregnating her.

What do you think? Is the death penalty justified in this case? Do you think it would be wrong to execute him?

Personally, I very rarely condone the death penalty, but in this scenario I think it's warranted to an extent. This man has ruined the lives of three women, causing them much pain and distress to both themselves and their families, and has also committed other monstrous acts. What right does he have to live when his appreciation and respect for others and their lives is completely irrelevant to him? On the other hand, isn't execution the easy way out? Should he be made to live with the knowledge of what he's done?

He deserves it but I would prefer him sit in prison for the rest of his life and wake up every day thinking, "Man, I'm in this **** because I am a piece of ****."

I really think that whether he sits in prison or gets executed, it doesn't matter. He made his choice to be a ****ty person so whatever he gets in terms of any punishment, he deserves.
As long as he's kept away from other people and can't hurt anyone else then it doesn't matter.

I did watch a programme about death row though, and it made me question the death penalty. I used to be for it...but now I'm not sure.

Well he clearly has some kind of mental disorder, so he wouldn't sit in prison and think that he's a **** person.

Maybe not say that, but no doubt he would regret it to that extent. That's what I meant. If you were locked up for the rest of your life in an 8x10 cell, you would do it, too. I would too, no matter what kind of junk I had going on upstairs.

I don't know.
I think he deserves a ton of punishment for what he did... but I don't want to waste my tax money on someone like that. The point of jail is to rehabilitate, right? What would be the point in having him sit there in a cell thinking about what he did? He had TONS of time to think about what he did before he did it.

I guess, I think he does deserve the death penalty. There's no point in keeping him locked in a cell for life. And there's no telling if he's really capable of being a member of society.

Rationally, I don't know. I'm still on the fence with what I think about the death penalty.

However, without accounting for said rational thoughts- my gut says "kill the ****er."

I'm always split on these things. Neither punishment (prison or execution) will undo the damage done to these girls lives. At this point, the death penalty would just serve as vengeance. Prison may force this guy to reflect on what he's done, but he'd most likely get a life sentence, so his life is pretty much over anyway.

Also, I don't know why, but I always expect these guys to look like psychos, and it always throws me off when they look normal. Even more so when the neighbours describe them as normal people :/

I don't think him sitting in prison would make him regret what he did, but rather that he got caught for what he did. I personally would like to see him get the death penalty, more so for what he did to the woman he impregnated and then physically abused and starved.

people in prison are treated like gods. they get treated better than our veterans, they get to go outside, they get bed and blankets to sleep on, a fan if they get hot and extra clothes or blankets if they are cold, they get 3 meals a day. they get to work for money and spend it in their "prison shop". they have a law in Ohio where fetus' are considered "people" and every time one got pregnant, he would beat on their stomach until they miscarried, i think only one girl had a child with him, and he threatened the girl that was delivering the child if the baby died during birth, he would kill her and the baby was a still born and she was in so much panic. Anyway, he has 5 counts of murder on his record so most likely he will get death penalty.

I still don't know how I feel about the death penalty. Because I was raised Catholic and one of the commandments is Thou Shalt not Kill, even if its capital punishment I still can't wrap my head around doing it. Also, even if he got the death penalty as I said in the case of Jody Airas, this isn't going to happen the next day. He would be placed on death row where he could live for years, all the while appealing the case.

Trivia Time: In the state of Utah the firing squad was once the approved method but, if the prisoner wanted the traditional last cigarette, they had to be escorted outdoors because it's illegal to smoke in State-owned buildings in Utah. The reason being that it's considered a health hazard, probably not top of a condemned inmate's priorities at that precise moment.

It's a losing situation either way. If he rots in prison, taxpayers will be paying for his breakfast, lunch, dinner, fresh water, TV, Playstation, rent-free room, etc. If he is killed, he is not paying for his crime, he is escaping it.
