I made the mistake of buying the new issue of PC Magazine, despite the fact that I know that they have no idea as to what they are talking about.
I was interested in the cover story they had on new 3D cards. However, when I got to the benchmarks, I was astounded that these guys haven't figured out just how stupid they are! Not only are they not, in the slightest, technically knowledgable, but apparently, they have no journalistic or editorial skills either.
Review the benchmark results from the article.
Most glaring item of stupidity:
How the Elsa Gladiac 32MB (based on GF2 GTS) is 40% faster on the Athlon than on the P3, while the Elsa Gladiac Ultra 64MB (based on GF2 Ultra) is not only 40% slower on the Athlon than on the P3, but somehow clocked in slower than the Gladiac on the Athlon.
As we all know, the Ultra is basically identical to the the GTS, only with faster memory and a faster core.
So, pray tell, how does the same card, only faster, come out slower?
Furthermore, they go on to show that they're even dumber by giving their Editor's Choice to a GTS Pro card, while they clearly show several GTS Ultra cards to benchmark faster at not much of a price premium.
I remember now why I leave my magazines in the bathroom. Because when I find one like this, the only logical and useful thing to do is to wipe my **** with it and flush it down the toilet.
