Okay, I formatted my HD about a month ago and reinstalled only the apps I *really* use. Everything runs perfect except for Photoshop (I've tried both 6.0 and 5.5 and both do the same thing). I'll be doing the simplest thing in Photoshop, and out of nowhere my system will just reboot. My initial instinct was that it might have to do with my memory, but I had 128MB Crucial PC133 CL2 (and I've since brought my PC back down to 100MHz FSB to see if it was just a result of overclocking) and it would still reboot. I've since added another 128MB (this time it was just the AccessMicro PC133 CL3), which I would probably blame had the problem not happened before I added the memory.

I'm going to format again and go with Win2k in a week or two, but I use Photoshop on a regular basis and it'd be nice if I could fix whatever is causing this.

It could be a heat issue. Or it could also be a flaky power supply.
Check to see if all of the fans are working, and unobstructed. Take a can of compressed air, and blow any dust off of the fans.

Heat: I have a Golden Orb and my computer is currently NOT overclocked (running at approx 30-35°c).

Power Supply: My computer ONLY reboots in Photoshop. I can run ANY other app, leave the computer running 3 days straight, etc. and it won't reboot. Also, Adobe Imageready (packaged with Photoshop and is basically the same thing, but just for web graphics) runs perfectly fine and never causes a reboot either.

i had a friend that had that same problem.. but they concluded that the motherboard was a fault.. too much noise between the memory and cpu.. i dunno if that may be your problem since you had it working before

Actually, I did LOTS of research and found that it IS the motherboard. Apparently Asus has had problems with many of their motherboards (mine being the CUBX) crashing / rebooting with Photoshop (I think it's a voltage "spike" problem). Also, the onboard CMD ATA66 controller on the CUBX apparently sucks big-floppy-donkey-d*ck. I basically have 2 options now, 1) get on Asus' case trying to get them to refund my mobo so I can buy a different one, or 2) solder 3 capacitors onto the back of my mobo (a guy from Sweden posted his fix for the CUBX problem). The problem is that, while I have some[/] experience with soldering, I'm a little worried about soldering my motherboard. *sigh* Photoshop is one of the only programs I use these days, this just sucks!
